September 05, 2000 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ Wyvonna Lynn "Bonnie" Bailey ODESSA Bonnie was born May 8, 1949, in Rotan to Sibyl Kelsey and William Odell Bailey. She graduated from Odessa High School in 1967. Bonnie worked for El Paso Products and Rexene Company in Odessa and Dallas from 1970 through 1993. She was a LAN administrator for Lincoln Financial Group in Dallas until her retirement. In August 1999, due to ill health, she returned to Odessa to be near her family and friends. Bonnies very favorite things were her beloved Freddie and Puddy, two furry friends who allowed her to love them. A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 3, 2000, at Odessa Tabernacle. She is survived by her mother, Sibyl Bailey of Odessa; two sisters, Naomia Almquist and husband Jack of Hermleigh and Jo Rogers of Odessa; one brother, Gene Stevenson and wife Sarah of Roby; nieces, Cheryl Young and Brenda Woosley and husband Larry, all of Odessa, Marci Mayes and husband Rex of Coleman and Gena Stevenson of Roby; nephews, Jason Almquist and wife Misty of Hermleigh, Jim Rogers and Craig and wife Terry, all of Odessa, Todd Stevenson and wife Debra of McCaulley and Scott Stevenson and wife Stacy of Roby; five great-nieces and nine great-nephews. Bonnie will be missed by many friends, including special friends Dale and Sally of Odessa. Memorials may be made in Bonnies name to the Ector County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, American Diabetes Association or the American Cancer Society. _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA Clinton Dean Boyd, son of Roger and Deana Boyd, slipped quietly out of this world and into the waiting arms of His Heavenly Father Saturday, Sept. 2, 2000, at Childrens Medical Center in Dallas. Born March 8, 1989, Clint lived 11 happy years in Gardendale. He attended Barbara Jordan Elementary and was an active member of First Baptist Church. Beneath his steady smile was an unconquerable spirit that never failed to delight and encourage everyone that came within his wide circle of influence. He was ever joyful in hope, patient in affliction and faithful in prayer. No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for Clint. Clint was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Dean Gregory. He is survived by his parents, Roger and Deana; sister, Kayla Boyd of Gardendale; brother, Clayton Boyd of Gardendale; grandparents, Barbara and Joe Horn of Odessa and Roger and Iwanda Boyd of Abilene; great-grandmother, Lucille Hennon of Odessa; uncles, Eddy Gregory and his wife Jill of Gardendale and Gary Gregory and his wife Susie of Sherman; aunt, Darla Batla and her husband Garry of St. Lawrence; cousins, Cade, Charlsye and Caleb Gregory, Laura, April and Brooks Gregory, and Misty, Kyndra and Boyd Batla; and countless friends and loved ones. Services will be at 4 p.m. today at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Ernest Easley officiating. Burial will follow immediately at Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Services are entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ Isham Cherry ODESSA Isham Cherry was born Oct. 20, 1922, in Mount Vernon to John and Georgia Cherry. He passed away Saturday, Sept. 2, 2000, at the Desert View Manor in Crane. A military graveside service is scheduled for 9 a.m. today at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Clydel Chapman officiating. Services are under the care of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Mr. Cherry served in the Army during World War II. He married Lore-Gina Jensen Jan. 6, 1946, in Germany. He worked for Phillips Petroleum for over 25 years, retiring in 1973. He enjoyed bowling and was an avid go-cart racer and promoter of racing. He was a member of Northside Baptist Church. Two brothers and a sister preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Lore-Gina Cherry of Odessa; his son, Glen Cherry and wife Leella of Odessa; his daughters, Judy and husband Stanley Wilson of Austin and Dorothey and husband Robert McClure of Crane; a brother, Melvin Cherry of Odessa; sisters, Lou McBroom of Sherman, Ann Brewer and Altie Lee, both of Colorado City, and IV Ballard of Odessa; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. _________________________________________________________________ Copyright © 2000 Odessa American.
