Mr. Harrison first came to Odessa in 1950 and traveled with the oilfield from boom to boom. He moved back to Odessa in 1977 when he retired from Reading and Bates Offshore Company where he had worked as a pump supervisor on Offshore Platform #9. Through the years, Gene had worked for nearly every major drilling company in the West Texas area and as far north as Montana and as far east as Mississippi. Gene will be missed not only by all of his friends at Vine Baptist Church, but also by all those who came in contact with him on a daily basis. He always had a friendly smile and a wave of the hand ready even for a total stranger. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Harrison of Odessa; son, Stephen Harrison of Odessa; daughter-in-law, Deborah Harrison of Odessa; granddaughter, Heather Eubanks of Odessa; grandson, Jason Harrison of Odessa; two great-grandchildren; three nephews; and eight great-nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the Community Care Hospice for all their help and support and extend special thanks to Manuel and Brenda. But no amount of thanks can be given to account for the amount of love and support that was given by Deborah Harrison in the long hours she spent caring for and nursing Gene. She was a light in his life, which he cherished and loved. He was proud to let everyone know she was his "favorite" daughter-in-law. Services were entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ W.C. "Bill Cole" Manning GATESVILLE Mr. W.C.
