September 08, 2000 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ SAN ANGELO Kimberlee Kay Brooks was born Aug. 16, 2000, to Dr. Steven and Shonda Brooks of San Angelo. She died of a heart defect in her loving parents arms Sept. 4, 2000. During her short 18-day life, Kimberlee brought love and smiles to all who met her. She will always be "our little angel." Kimberlee is survived by her parents Dr. Steven and Shonda Brooks of San Angelo; maternal grandparents are Larry and Betty Bailey of Odessa; paternal grandparents are Wayne and Katherine Brooks of Odessa; aunt, Tara Bailey of Odessa; great-grandparents, Carrie Griffin, Dorothy Spann of Odessa, Jeff Brittain of Woodsboro and numerous great aunts and uncles. Kimberlee was also loved by an "honorary" aunt and uncle Jennifer and Albert Seybert of Odessa. We will all miss you, Angel. Graveside services were held Wednesday at Babyland Lawnhaven in San Angelo. "Chuck" Garza Sr., 65, of Odessa, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Mr. Garza died Thursday, Sept. 7, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital. He was born Nov. 23, 1934, in Bandera. Mr. Garza came to Odessa 45 years ago from Bandera and was a retired truck driver. Survivors include his daughters, Debbie Proctor of Odessa and Betty Thomas of Brighton, Colo.; sons, Charlie Garza Jr. of Midland and Danny Garza of Abilene; and eight grandchildren. Services are entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA Stacia Anquionetta Jones was born to James C. Jones and Betty Y. Williams on Dec. 9, 1962. She attended and graduated from Ector High School in Odessa. She later attended Odessa College and received certification as an administrative assistant. She accepted Christ and united with the Rose of Sharon Baptist Church in 1968. She relocated to Carrolton and united with Fellowship Baptist Church where she was active in the music ministry. Funeral services will be at noon Saturday at the Rose of Sharon Baptist Church with the Rev. J.W. Hanson, pastor of the church, officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery. Wake will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the church. Those left to cherish her memory are her fiance, Torrey Nelson of Carrolton; son, Quincy Randolph of Carrolton; mother, Bettye Williams and husband Edward; father, James C. Jones and wife Gale; brothers, James C. Jones Jr., Sam Majors, Edward Williams, Marcus Williams, Eric Williams and Jimmy Jones; sisters, Sharon Wade, Pamela Jones, Eboni Jones, Evelyn Williams and Rene Roberson; grandmother, Mattie Cotton; and a host of aunts, uncles and other relatives and friends. Rush, 74, of Odessa, passed away Wednesday Sept. 6, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital. He was born Aug. 19, 1926, in Clarksburg, W. Va., to Eugene and Nellie Rush. Mr. Rush moved to Odessa in 1935 from West Virginia. He was a sergeant in the Army during World War II. He married Frankie Lou Gray on May 25, 1947, in McCamey. He worked for Phillips Petroleum Company for 38 years, spending all of his employment here in the Permian Basin. He loved to fish and to go camping with his family. He was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and St. Charles Mens Club. The family will receive friends beginning at 6 p.m. today at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors. Funeral mass will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, 2000, at St. Marys Catholic Church with Father Frances Frey officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Survivors include his wife, Frankie Lou Gray Rush of Odessa; three daughters, Kathy and husband Eddie Lane, Debby and husband Paul Litz and Patty and husband Ronnie White, all of Odessa; grandchildren, Rodney White, James and Mellisa White and Meagan White, all of Odessa; great-grandchildren, Cody and Mishala White of Odessa; two sisters, Eleanor Lovelace and Cathy Giddens and husband Sam, all of Marble Falls; brother-in-law, Eddie K. (www.wilsonfuneral.com) _________________________________________________________________ Harold Joe Smith ODESSA Joe Smith, 73, of Odessa, died Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2000, at Memorial Hospital and Medical Center. He was born May 22, 1927, in Eastland. He was a graduate of Eastland High School and served with the Army during World War II. He married Bettye Joe Price on June 1, 1952, in Eastland, and they moved to Odessa that same year. He was a lineman for Southwestern Bell Telephone for 34 years, retiring in 1986, and was a member of Kingston Avenue Baptist Church and the Telephone Pioneers. Survivors include his wife, Bettye of Odessa; sons, Stephen G. Smith and his wife, Keira, and Gregory A. Smith and his wife, Elaine, all of Odessa; and daughter, Sara L. Lange and her husband, Andy, of Odessa. He is also survived by grandchildren, Keena Traylor, Kasha Urban and her husband, Fred, Jesamy Smith, Toni Smith, Kevin Hughes and his wife, Deborah, Leah Lange and Lisa Lange; great-grandchildren, Trey and Tara Urban; and sisters, Nina Nichols of Odessa and Betty Fay Smith of Midland. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, 2000, at Kingston Avenue Baptist Church with the Rev. John Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
