September 13, 2000 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ William M. Holcomb ODESSA William M. Holcomb, 79, died Friday, Sept. 8, 2000, at his home. Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 11, 2000, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Owen Sharp officiating. He was born July 1, 1921, in Gatesville to W.E. and Frances Holcomb. He served his country during World War II from 1940 through 1945. He came to Odessa in 1960 and was proprietor of Sherwood Lanes until his retirement in 1980. He was married to Frances Watkins Aug. 31, 1962, in Odessa. He was an avid sportsman and liked to hunt blue quail, train bird dogs, fish and watch professional and college sports. He is survived by his wife Fran and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Fred and Sharon Watkins of Odessa and Ken and Shirley Watkins of Houston. Services were entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA J.D. "John" Thomas Jr., 62, a resident of Odessa since 1958, died Friday, Sept. 8, 2000, in Odessa. He was born Dec. 4, 1937, in Calvert to Lillian Brown and J.D. Thomas Sr. He was a technical operator for Texaco Incorporated and had worked there for 26 years. He married Helen Hudgins Aug. 4, 1961. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Rose of Sharon Baptist Church with the Elder Lon H. Thomas officiating. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at Martinez Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery. He was preceded in death by his father, J.D. Thomas Sr. He is survived by his wife, Helen Thomas of Odessa; mother, Lillian Brown of Odessa; son, Jerry Don Thomas of Odessa; daughters, Ishmeal D. Hudgins Redic of Midland, Bernadine S. Thomas, Donna L. Thomas and Karen D. Thomas, all of Fort Worth, Marilyn L. Jackson and Pamela A. Thomas, both of Odessa; brothers, James Johnson of Houston, Robert Brown of Fort Worth, Arthur Brown of Midland and Elder Lon H. Thomas of Amarillo; sisters, Annie Brown and Elizabeth Ray of Odessa, Kathrine McCardic of Fort Worth and Gladys McCracken of Pomona, Calif.; and eight grandchidren. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ Brandon Edward Webster ODESSA Brandon "BAM" Webster, 15 years of age, passed away Sept. 10, 2000, at the Medical Center Hospital emergency room. He was born Dec. 29, 1984, in Odessa. Brandon was a sophomore at Permian High School and a member of Odessa Gospel Lighthouse Church. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Clarence E. Webster and Juan and Eva Ramirez. Brandon is survived by his parents, Eddie and Luzcema Webster of Odessa; his brother, Bryan E. Webster of Odessa; his grandmother, Lucinda Webster of Odessa; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and a host of friends. Visitation will be today and Thursday at the family home at 5214 E. San Benito Drive in South Ranchito. Prayer services will be held at 7 p.m. today and Thursday at the family residence. Funeral services are set for 10 a.m. Friday at Odessa Gospel Lighthouse Church, 4300 E. Loop 338 with Pastor Eddie G. Humphries officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Baudelio Ramirez, Michael John Ramirez, Bo Ramirez Jr., Jose Tavarez, Richard Olague and Justin Olague.
