September 23, 2000 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ Marlene Kay Cook ODESSA Marlene Cook, 65, of Odessa, died Sept. 21, 2000, at her residence. She was born Sept. 1, 1935, in Chaunte, Kans., to E.D. and Edith Childers. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 25, 2000, at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors with the Rev. Preston Weatherly officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Cook was a lifelong resident of Odessa. She married Johnny Cook Oct. 15, 1966, in Odessa. She liked to play bridge or any kind of games. She is survived by her husband, Johnny Cook of Odessa; sons, Gary Don Scott of Virginia and Larry Wayne Scott of California; step-son, Johnny Cook Jr. of Pecos; sister, Reba Campbell of Georgia; and grandsons, Josh, James and Dan Scott. Hernandez, 45, of Odessa, died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital. Services will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today at Iglesia de Dios Nueva Vida, 601 W. Clifford St., with Thomas Flores officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery. Arrangements by Odessa Funeral Home. He was born June 6, 1955, in Odessa. He was a member of the Christian Church. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jesusita Saenz Andrade, Antonio Andrade and Isabel Ortiz, and sister, Juana Hernandez. Survivors include his son, Albert Rene Hernandez Jr. of Evans, Colo.; daughters, Geneva Hernandez of Odessa and Marcie Hernandez of Evans; parents, Nicholas Hernandez and Manuela Montanez Hernandez, both of Odessa; brothers, Reymundo Canales of Lubbock, Isidro Barraza, Arturo Barraza, Nick Hernandez Sr. and wife Cindi and David Hernandez Sr., all of Odessa, and Augustine Hernandez of Dallas; and four grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Nick Augustine Hernandez, Anthony Hernandez, David Hernandez Jr. Nick M.
