She was born June 24, 1945, in Pecos to Eulojio and Inez Hignojoz. Johnnie graduated from Pecos High School in 1964. On May 3 that same year, she married Demetrio "Junior" Aguero III. Johnnie and her family then moved to Odessa in 1979 where she began to work for Phillips Petroleum Company Feb. 3, 1981, as a senior regulation and proration clerk. Along with working and taking care of her family, Johnnie enjoyed shopping for other people. Her brothers, Jay Hignojoz and Erasmo Hignojoz, preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband, Demetrio "Junior" Aguero III of Odessa; sons, Michael Richard Aguero of Odessa and Dominic Aguero and his wife, Lisa, also of Odessa; grandchildren, Niccolette Aguero, Donovan Aguero and Michael Angelo Aguero, all of Odessa; parents, Eujolio and Inez Hignojoz, both of Odessa; brothers, Eujolio Hignojoz Jr. of Culver City, Calif., Raul Hignojoz of Midland and Martin Hignojoz of Odessa; sisters, Rosa Navarette of Pecos, Erma Linda Jaramillo of Sherman and Nancy Ortega of Odessa. Among Johnnies favorites were enchiladas, fried bologna, milk and cookies, cereal, but no chicken or fish. She enjoyed caring for her parents, shopping, clipping coupons, cake decorating, Tae Bo, helping others and recording movies and cartoons for her grandchildren, Nikki and Donovan. Her musical favorites were Selena, Gary Hobbs, Carmen, salsa, La Charanga, Ricky Martin and Juniors piano playing. Her favorite television programs included the Mary Tyler Moore Show, the Andy Griffith Show and Nick at Nite. She was known to quote John 3:16, and to say "Rise and Shine." We would like to express our greatest gratitude and thanks to all who have been supportive for Johnnie H. Aguero and her family. Times have been tough in the last few days, but they would have been a lot worse without you all. We mean it from the bottom of our hearts. Johnnie attended Odessa Christian Faith Center. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 25, 2000, at Odessa Christian Faith Center with the Rev. Don Kaywood officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. "A Tribute to Johnnie Aguero" We know that Johnnie Aguero would like to thank everyone who attended her services and burial. Johnnie had a special place in her heart for musicians. Through the years, Johnnie has supported her husband and children in every aspect of music. She not only was their biggest fan, but she also volunteered as a roadie. She was always a fan of live music, especially when she knew the people although she never carried a tune herself. We are inviting all the musicians who knew Johnnie Aguero to a special gathering. We are going to honor her with a compact disc for everyone who is interested. This compact disc will be a song that her husband has composed. The melody is a song that Johnnie Aguero loved. Junior played it many times for her in their very own home. The song is an up-tempo tropical style, salsa-type song. We hope everyone enjoys it. Because of the seriousness of the song, we want to record it on the day of the funeral. Do not be offended if you are not a musician! This is the type of thing we believe that Johnnie Aguero would want. The compact disc will be available at Atlas Records, on the corner of 7th Street and McArthur Avenue in Odessa, one block east of Harless Avenue. Services are in the care of Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ Marlene Kay Cook ODESSA Marlene Cook, 65, of Odessa, died Sept. 21, 2000, at her residence.
