October 13, 2000 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA Myrtis Ruth Cherry was born Jan. 20, 1908, in Rochelle, La., to Erastus Author Thompson and Annie Louise Martin Thompson. She passed away in the early morning hours of Oct. 12, 2000, in Odessa. Graveside services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Bill Heggemeier of First United Methodist Church officiating. Services are under the care of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Myrtis married Edward Cherry Jan. 1, 1932, in Shreveport, La. They came to Odessa in 1942. She enjoyed painting and cooking. She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church. Her husband preceded her in death in 1987. Six brothers and sisters also preceded her in death. She is survived by her son, Mike Cherry, and his wife Sidney of Odessa; a sister, Grace Oma Worley of Odessa; a grandson, Jamie Cherry; and several nieces and nephews. The family suggests that memorial be made to the Scottish Rite Childrens Hospital or to St. Judes Hospital. Arrangements are entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA Irma Corzine, 94, of Odessa, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2000, at a local hospital. She was born Aug. 12, 1906, in Payson, Okla. She had lived in Odessa for 18 years and was a faithful member of First Assembly of God Church. Irma married Earl H. Corzine Sept. 29, 1928, in Kaw City, Okla., and he preceded her in death Sept. 3, 1976. Irma enjoyed having company and cooking for family and friends. She deeply loved her church and family. She is survived by two sons, Roger Corzine and Clarence Corzine and his wife Ethel, all of Odessa; a daughter-in-law, Mary Murr of Junction; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, 2000, at the First Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Paul Thompson officiating. Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 16, 2000, at the Resthaven Cemetery in Oklahoma City under the direction of Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
