Bright-Holland Funeral Home scheduled services for 2:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 23, 2000, at the United Pentecostal Church in Paris with the Revs. Robert Myre, Benny Grissom and Johnny Grissom officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 to 6 p.m. today at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home in Odessa and chapel services there will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday with burial following at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Coleman was born Oct. 28, 1931, in Athens, the daughter of Frank and Maggie Thompson Grissom. She married Olen W. Coleman on Nov. 12, 1948, at the United Pentecostal Church in Odessa. They resided in Odessa and moved to Big Lake in 1974 where they owned and operated a water well business and farm. They moved to the East Texas area in 1996. She was a member of the United Pentecostal Church in Paris, Prime Time, was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society and enjoyed baking and cake decorating. Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Paula Jean Smith and husband Glen of Midland, Connie Lynn Lavario and husband Lewis of Big Lake and Bonnie Sue Whitehead of Odessa; one son, Terry DeWayne Coleman and wife Nancy of Gilmer; two brothers, M.O. "Billy" Grissom of Houston and Benny Grissom of Lewisville; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; along with numerous loving nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and many friends. The pallbearers in Paris will be: Duane Bryson, Sam Coleman, Jim Coleman, Kenneth Millsap, Jerry Grissom and Phillip Hendricks. An honorary pallbearer will be Jim Parsons. The pallbearers in Odessa will be: Sam Coleman, Jim Coleman, Tren Coleman, Bill Smith, Terry OSteen and Darren Anthony. Dominguez, Sr. ODESSA A funeral Mass will be celebrated for Carlos Dominguez Sr., 65, of Odessa at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2000, at St. Marys Catholic Church with the Rev. Francis Frey as celebrant. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at Hubbard-Kelly Chapel. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Mr. Dominguez died Monday, Oct. 23, 2000, at a local hospital. He was born Sept. 11, 1935, in Imperial. He married Juanita Sosa Aug. 4, 1955, in Fort Stockton. Mr. Dominguez had lived in Odessa since 1966 and worked for the Ector County Independent School District for 28 years until he retired in September 1999. He was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church. SURVIVORS: Wife, Juanita Dominguez of Midland; sons, Carlos A. Dominguez, Jr., of Birmingham, Ala., and Albert Dominguez of Midland; daughter, Sofie Ann Dominguez of Odessa; seven brothers, Raymond Dominguez of Odessa, Emilio Dominguez of Odessa, Johnny Dominguez of Crane, Nemerio Dominguez of Andrews, Dario Dominguez of Imperial, Mike Dominguez of Imperial and Guillermo Dominguez of Odessa; five sisters, Anita Carrasco of Crane, Manuela Tover of San Angelo, Minnie Granado of Odessa, Mary Rey and Nirma Mayben, both of Mertzon; and five grandchildren. Services are entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ Top | Obituaries Index | Home _________________________________________________________________ [102400Reeves.jpg] Cary David Reeves, Sr. ODESSA Cary David Reeves, Sr., died peacefully in his sleep at his home in Wimberley Oct. 20, 2000, after a courageous battle against cancer. He was 54. He was born Jan. 24, 1946, in Pampa and moved to Odessa in 1953. He graduated from Permian High School in 1964 and attended the University of Texas at El Paso. On June 3, 1966, he married Kay Morton. A former Realtor and homebuilder, he was involved with the Odessa Chuck Wagon Gang and the Odessa Board of Realtors. He led a full and fun life in Odessa, including enjoying weekends at his lake house at Oak Creek surrounded by family and many friends. In 1990, he moved to Austin where he reunited with his wife, Kay Reeves. Cary and Kay routinely hosted Sunday night dinners for family and friends of his children. In 1995, Kay and Cary moved to their home in Wimberley. Cary graduated from Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos that year. He and Kay then embarked on a job that he loved, traveling around the state as a candle distributor for Designs in Wax. Carys loves were home, family and friends, grocery shopping, cooking and reading newspapers from around the state and nation. He is survived and dearly loved by his wife, Kay; his daughter, Kelsi of Alexandria, Va.; his son and daughter in law, Cary David Reeves, Jr., and Patricia Jaramillo of Longmont, Colo.; his parents, Leon and Jean Reeves of Odessa; his sisters and their families, Shana McGill of Odessa and JoAnne York of Montgomery; his grandmother, Jimmy "Mur" Jordan of Pampa; and many wonderful friends and extended family members around the world. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2000, at the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Austin at 4700 Grover. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, 2000, at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa. She was born July 26, 1921, in Oklahoma City to Mae Blue and Eli Green, both deceased. She was a homemaker and a Jehovahs Witness. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today at Garden of Memories near Comanche. Officiating minister will be Burt Groves of Odessa. Jean was a retired Lubys Cafeteria employee. She was a longtime member of Eisenhower Church of Christ. She loved and cared for her family unconditionally, even being the caretaker of family members until their deaths. Jean was born in San Saba and was reared in De Leon. She was an 18-year resident of Odessa. She was preceded in death by one son, Sherman Driver; parents, Otis and Jewel Leach; brother, Clarence Leach; sister, Arnetta "Net" Tucker; and granddaughter, Jaime Stahl. Survivors include four daughters, Norma Marker of Midland, Glenda Driver of Odessa, Nina Wright of Crane and Margaret Hall of Odessa; one son, Clarence Driver of Odessa; four grandsons, DeWayne Culpepper, Shane Stahl, Scott Stahl and Garrett Skaggs; four granddaughters, Celeste Stahl, Melody Driver, Summer Marker and JaCee Hall, three great-grandchildren, Halley Stahl, Brittany Stahl and Trenton Culpepper; five sisters, Joyce Drake of Odessa, Faye Adams of De Leon, Elsie Bradford of Colorado City, Loyce Driver of Odessa and Lillie Moreland of Fort Worth; and two brothers, Buck Leach of Emporia, Kans., and Richard Leach of Odessa. Memorials may be made to American Heart and Lung Association. _________________________________________________________________ Top | Obituaries Index | Home _________________________________________________________________ [102400west.jpg] James Stanley West ODESSA Stan West, 44, went to be with his loved ones Oct. 21, 2000, at 11:35 p.m. Stan was diagnosed with cancer of the brain and lungs a scant month ago. He chose to fight the cancer and started to succeed, but soon suffered a stroke, which caused blood clots to develop. Stan was moved to the hospital, where he died six days later surrounded by his family and friends. Stan put up a very strong fight, yet in the end, died very peacefully. James "Stan" West was born Aug. 23, 1956, in Farmington, N.M. Stan truly enjoyed being surrounded by his family, friends and his beloved cat, "Bubba." Stan was notorious for helping other people, be it refurbishing, construction or landscaping. His greatest pleasure was sitting under his tree, visiting with his family and friends, enjoying the pond he created on his property. Stan will be missed dearly by everyone who loved him. He was one of those special human beings who drew people like a magnet. He had a huge heart that could love many and still have more left over. We will miss his smile, laughter and touch for the peace it gave us. He was preceded in death by his father, Jack West in 1995, and mother, Helen West in 1996. They will be happy to have their son back with them. Survivors include sister, Mary Hutchings and husband Robert of Odessa; brother, Harlan "Bo" West and his wife Juanita of Odessa; brother, Richard "Rick" West and his wife Mary of Odessa; honorary brother, Cel Talamanitez of Lubbock; nieces and nephews, William "Larry" Hutchings and wife Keely of Odessa, Tessa "Murphy" Watson and husband Wesley of California, Tierra "West" Richardson and husband Cody of Arkansas; plus numerous other nephews and nieces, his great-nephews and nieces; and all of Stans buddies.
