October 31, 2000 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA Marshall Fields, 71, of Odessa died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital. He was born Aug. 10, 1929, in Lamesa. He attended the University of Texas at Austin and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He moved to Odessa from Lamesa in 1950. He was the owner and broker of Marshall Fields Real Estate and member of the Odessa Board of Realtors. He was preceded in death by his parents, Beckham W. and Jessie Ballew Fields; and brother, Waymon Fields. Survivors include his wife, Venita Fields of Odessa; daughters, Marcia Lynn Cook and husband, Keith, of Jasper and Glynna Lewis and husband, Dan, of Terrell; son, Steven Fields and wife, Susan, of Dallas; stepdaughter, Deb Lee and husband, Ken, of Odessa; and 11 grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters, Mrs. Howard (Jo) Eudy of Odessa, Mrs. Howard (Laverne) Meadows of Abilene, Bonnie Smith of Plano, and twin sister, Mrs. John (Marzelle) Ferguson of Oklahoma City; and brother, Bruce Fields of Corpus Christi. Graveside services will be 11 a.m., today at Ector County Cemetery with the Rev. Sam Jordan officiating. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors. (www.wilsonfuneral.com) _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA Lela Fay Hatfield, 79, of Odessa went to be with the Lord Monday, Oct. 30, 2000. She was at Seabury Nursing Home. She was born Nov. 28, 1920, in Alabama. She married Archie Hatfield July 18, 1936, in Shamrock, Okla. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Archie Hatfield; and daughter, Judith Hatfield. She is survived by her daughter, Ivis and son-in-law Richard Eggar of Odessa; seven grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Lela Fay was dearly loved by family and friends and will be missed. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2000, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Jimmy Braswell officiating.
