November 05, 2000 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA Manuela M. Serrano, 75 years of age, passed away Thursday, Nov. 2, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital from injuries suffered in an automobile accident. She was born Dec. 14, 1924, in Ocampo, Coahuila, Mexico. A homemaker and member of St. Josephs Catholic Church, she was preceded in death by her husband Vicente; and her son, Celso Serrano; sisters, Irene Flotte and Catherina Torres. She is survived by her sons, Sixto Serrano, Miguel Serrano, Jesus Serrano, Braulio Serrano, Jesus Manuel Serrano and Raul Serrano, all of Odessa; daughters, Irene Marquez, Elvira Suchil, Julieta Dutchover, Olivia Medrano and Irma Valenzuela, all of Odessa; brothers, Inez Melchor of Presidio and Dolores Melchor of Odessa; sisters, Maria Madrid of Lubbock and Conrada Armendariz of Odessa; 49 grandchildren; and 25 great grandchildren. Visitation will be fromon 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at Odessa Funeral Home with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday and Monday in the funeral home chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2000, at St. Josephs Catholic Church with the Rev. Gilbert Rodriguez officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery. Her pallbearers will be her six sons. Services by Odessa Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA Ysmael M. Ruiz was born May 17, 1930, in Colonia Esperanza, Chihuahua, Mexico, to Jose and Julia Martinez Ruiz. He passed away the evening of Thursday, Nov. 2, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital. Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of San Juan Catholic Church with the Rev. Mark Woodruff officiating. A rosary will be held at 7 p.m. tonight at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Mr. Ruiz came to Odessa in 1969 from Pecos. He was a member of Our Lady of San Juan Catholic Church. He was a lathe operator for Wooley Tool Company until his retirement in 1991. Survivors include his wife, Santos Ruiz of Odessa; his sons, Javier and wife, Sarah, and Jose M. Ruiz and wife, Rosie, all of Odessa; his daughters, Graciela Evaro and husband, Rubin, and Julia Ruiz, all of Odessa, Marta A. Lujan and husband, Richard, of Arlington and Leticia Lucio and husband, Moses, of Midlothian; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
