November 25, 2000 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ Nena Beth Brock ODESSA Memorial services for Nena Beth Brock, 74, of Odessa are scheduled for 2 p.m. today, Nov. 25, 2000, at Hubbard-Kelly Chapel with Charles Jones officiating. Mrs. Brock died Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital. She was born April 12, 1926, in Marquez. She married Willard Brock in 1982 in Las Vegas, Nev. Mrs. Brock was a homemaker and a member of Parkview Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Brock; brother, J.L. Lindsay; and sisters, Beatrice Dean, Myrna Brock, Novice Vann and Annie Mae Robinson. Survivors include her sons, Warren Douglas Carruth of Alamosa, Colo., Billy Ray Carruth of Walsenberg, Colo., and Floyd Carruth of Alamosa, Colo.; daughters, Beverly Henderson of San Angelo and Dyanne Reagan of Redmond, Wash.; and 10 grandchildren. Services are entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ Joshua Paul Parkinson ODESSA Joshua Paul "Josh" Parkinson was born Oct. 7, 1980, in Odessa and died Nov. 23, 2000. He was the beloved son of Kathleen Mooney Foster and Jack David Parkinson. Josh was a 1999 graduate of Permian High School. All his life he loved sports and during his school years he played football, baseball and basketball. He was in the gifted and talented classes throughout junior and senior high school. Josh attended Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos where he was a member of the Pi Kappa Epsilon Fraternity. Josh will always be remembered for his wonderful smile and his loving heart. He was dearly loved by his family and many friends. Josh had a very special gift working with children. They were very drawn to him as he devoted many summers life-guarding and teaching them to swim. Josh loved to spend time with his many friends, and he truly knew how to be a friend. He is survived by his mother, Kathy Foster and stepfather, Niles Foster of Gardendale; father, Jack Parkinson of Leander; brother, Matt Parkinson and sister, Elizabeth Bailey, all of Gardendale; maternal grandparents, Frank and Mary "Mimi" Mooney of Odessa; paternal grandmother, Ann Baucum of Mesa, Ariz.; paternal great-grandmother, Mae Baucum of Lubbock; aunts and uncles, Frank and Sandy Mooney of Friendswood, Bobby and Karen (Mooney) Nimon of Houston, Jim and Monica Mooney of Odessa, Joan Firth of Scottsdale, Ariz., Jean Parkinson of Florence, Ariz., and Janan Parkinson of Glendale, Ariz.; and cousins, Miriam Mooney, Taryn Mooney, Ashley Ellis, Emily and Martha Nimon, Jacob Parkinson, Jasmine Parkinson, Christopher Eric Firth, Nick Firth, Ryan Thompson, Adam Thompson, Elizabeth Parkinson, Sam Parkinson and Travis Parkinson. Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 26, 2000, in the chapel of Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors. Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 27, 2000, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church with the Rev. Mark Woodruff, celebrant. Pallbearers will be Blake Doran, Alec Skillern, Courtney Smith, Rick Dansby, Joshua Clark and Travis Watkins. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
