December 16, 2000 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA Services for Tommy Tucker, 72, of Odessa are scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, 2000, at First Christian Church with Dr. David Mindel officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Mr. Tucker died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2000, at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas. He was born Feb. 28, 1928, in Odessa. He married LaRue Hall on July 30, 1950, in Odessa. Mr. Tucker was a lifetime resident of Odessa. He attended Baylor University and later graduated from Sul Ross State University. He was a retired partner of Waddell and Blank Insurance Co. He was past president of Odessa Insurance Agents Association and past president of the Kiwannis Breakfast Club. He was a member and served on the board of directors of Texas Independent Insurance Association. He was preceded in death by his brother, Nash A. Tucker Jr., and sister, Virginia R. Hendrick. Survivors include his wife, LaRue Tucker of Odessa; daughter, Terri Ann Conner and husband Jerry of Odessa; two grandchildren, Chantel and Shallen Conner; and a great-granddaughter, Abbey LaRue Conner. Services are entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ Johnny M. Smith ODESSA Johnny M. Smith, 73, of Odessa died Thursday, Dec. 14, 2000, in Odessa. Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. today at Sunset Memorial Chapel. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. He was born Feb. 14, 1927, in Belton. He served in the Navy during World War II. He was owner and operator of Cottage of Flowers since 1973. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion. Survivors include his wife, Wanda R. Smith of Odessa; son, Johnny M. Smith Jr. and wife Debra Ann of Odessa; son, Travis A. Smith and wife Alexa Dawn of Mobile, Ala.; daughter, Mikki J. Smith of Odessa; daughter, Karlus Smith of Muskogee, Okla.; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
