Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Balmorhea Methodist Church. Arrangements by Memorial Funeral Home. She was born in Rotan. SURVIVORS: Husband, Courtney Mellard of Balmorhea; sons, Damon Melklard of Balmorhea and Jimmy Melvin of Marfa; daughters, Mary Walker of Kress, Molly Mellard of Presidio and Dana Rice of Florida; mother, Bertha Gilbert of Snyder; and two grandchildren. Clara Smelser BIG SPRING Clara Lee Smelser, 83, of Big Spring, a bookkeeper, died Friday, Jan. 12, 2001, at Comanche Trail Nursing Home after a long illness. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Monday at Trinity Memorial Park. Arrangements by Myers and Smith Funeral Home and Chapel. She was born in Roaring Springs. She lived in Big Springs for 50 years.
