                               Helen Mellard
                                      
      BALMORHEA Helen Mellard, 55, of Balmorhea, a teachers aid in the
      Balmorhea School system, died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2001, at a Fort
                             Stockton hospital.
                                      
     Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Balmorhea Methodist
               Church. Arrangements by Memorial Funeral Home.
                                      
                           She was born in Rotan.
                                      
       SURVIVORS: Husband, Courtney Mellard of Balmorhea; sons, Damon
      Melklard of Balmorhea and Jimmy Melvin of Marfa; daughters, Mary
    Walker of Kress, Molly Mellard of Presidio and Dana Rice of Florida;
          mother, Bertha Gilbert of Snyder; and two grandchildren.
                                      
                               Clara Smelser
                                      
    BIG SPRING Clara Lee Smelser, 83, of Big Spring, a bookkeeper, died
     Friday, Jan. 12, 2001, at Comanche Trail Nursing Home after a long
                                  illness.
                                      
   Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Monday at Trinity Memorial Park.
          Arrangements by Myers and Smith Funeral Home and Chapel.
                                      
      She was born in Roaring Springs. She lived in Big Springs for 50
                         years. She was Methodist.
                                      
      SURVIVORS: Husband, William R. Smelser of Big Spring; daughter,
   Patricia Crow of Cypress; son, James Smelser of New Braunfels and nine
                               grandchildren.
                                      
                             Jimmy Lee Gregory
                                      
     ODESSA Jimmy Lee Gregory, 69, died Saturday, Jan. 13, 2001, at his
                            residence in Odessa.
                                      
        Arrangements are pending with Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
                                      
                                 Carole Hay
                                      
   ODESSA Carole Ann Hay, 58, of Odessa died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2001, at
                          Hospice House in Odessa.
