      ALPINE Baltazar "Ben" R. Aguilar, 92, of Alpine, a retired truck
     driver for Newell Oil Co., died Sunday, April 8, 2001, at a local
                               nursing home.
                                      
      Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Peace
    Catholic Church with the Rev. Rick Ruiz officiating. Rosary will be
    said at 7 p.m. today at Geeslin Funeral Home. Burial will be at Holy
           Angels Cemetery. Arrangements by Geeslin Funeral Home.
                                      
    He was born in Shafter and was a longtime resident of Alpine. He was
                                 Catholic.
                                      
      SURVIVORS: Wife, Drucilla Aguilar of Alpine; daughters, Yolanda
    Bateson of Huntington Beach, Calif., and Lorena Hawks of Las Vegas;
       sons, Sammy Aguilar of Sun City, Calif., and Walter Aguilar of
          Magnolia; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
                                      
                               Cynthia Akina
                                      
    CARLSBAD, N.M. Cynthia Lou "Cindy" Akina, 42, of Odessa, manager of
     Mamas Kitchen Restaurant, died Saturday, April 7, 2001, at Hospice
                                   House.
                                      
   Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Carlsbad Cemetery.
             Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.
                                      
    She was born in Carlsbad, N.M., and had been a resident of Mountain
           Home, Idaho, before moving to Odessa. She was Baptist.
                                      
   SURVIVORS: Daughter, Lacy Joe Frazee Hastings of Odessa; son, Casy Bob
    Frazee of Odessa; mother, Johnnie Pinson of Carlsbad; sisters, Carla
     Cotter of Los Lunas, N.M., and Brenda Sutphin of Odessa; brother,
        Johnny Ray Pinson of Albuquerque, N.M.; and a granddaughter.
                                      
                                Vell Huntley
                                      
   ODESSA Vell V. Huntley, 68, of Odessa, a retired construction worker,
               died Tuesday, April 3, 2001, at Hospice House.
                                      
   Graveside services will be at 9 a.m. Thursday at Ector County Cemetery
   with the Rev. H.L. Lewis officiating. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral
                                   Home.
                                      
                        He was born in Bradley, Ark.
                                      
    SURVIVORS: Daughter, Bettie Huntley of Phoenix; and brother, Hermon
                             Carter of Odessa.
                                      
                               Verda McAdams
                                      
      ODESSA Verda Beatrice McAdams, 86, of Midland, a homemaker, died
     Sunday, April 8, 2001, at Terrace West Nursing Center in Midland.
                                      
    Services will be at 10 a.m. today at First Church of God with Martin
   Kehler and Paul Jones officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday
    in Beaver, Okla. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.
                                      
   She was born in Beaver and moved to Midland in 1971. She was a member
                           of the Church of God.
                                      
     SURVIVORS: Son, Max McAdams of Odessa; daughter, Carole Beegle of
     Loveland, Colo.; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

    ODESSA Vernon Scott, 74, of Odessa died Tuesday, April 10, 2001, at
                          Medical Center Hospital.
                                      
              Services are pending with Martinez Funeral Home.

   ODESSA Allie Ruth Webb, 98, of Odessa died Tuesday, April 10, 2001, at
                               her residence.
