July 07, 2001 Karl Menge ODESSA Karl Ernest Menge, 79, of Odessa, retired owner of Karls Cafe, died Thursday, July 5, 2001, in Odessa. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Sunset Memorial Chapel. Arrangements by Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. He was born in Hamburg, Germany, and moved to Odessa in 1972 from Arizona. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. SURVIVORS: Wife, Marian Dickerson of Odessa; sons, Hans Menge of Georgia, Michael Smith of Middleton, Wis., and Lamar Menge of Washington, D.C.; stepsons, Dickie Dickerson and Bobby Dickerson, both of Odessa, and Brian Ventrone of Elmendorf, Ariz.; daughter, Rose McMasters of Odessa; stepdaughter, Priscilla McCarty of Carlsbad; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Santiago Porras GRANDFALLS Santiago Villa Porras, 86, of Crane, a retired farmer, died Thursday, July 5, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital. Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Gertrude Catholic Church. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Sunday at the church. Burial will be at the Grandfalls Cemetery. Arrangements by Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home. He was born in Terlingua. He was Catholic. SURVIVORS: Wife, Lidia Porras of Crane; sons, Cruz Porras, Jose Porras and Jesus Porras, all of Grandfalls, Alfredo Porras of Espanola, N.M., and Julian Porras of Crane; daughter, Olga Tavarez of Crane; brother, Manuel Porras of Brownfield; 19 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Pauline Weaver BIG SPRING Pauline Weaver, 80, of Coahoma, a retired nurses aid, died Wednesday, July 4, 2001, at her residence. Services were at 4 p.m. Friday at Myers and Smith Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Elwin Collom officiating. Burial was at Trinity Memorial Park. Arrangements by Myers and Smith Funeral Home. She was born in Boaz, Ala., and was a lifelong resident of Coahoma. She was Baptist.
