July 10, 2001 Mildred Burtner CRANE Mildred N. Burtner, 84, of Crane, a retired registered nurse, died Friday, July 6, 2001, at Odessa Regional Hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Craig Mull officiating and at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Pauls Episcopal Church in Kansas City, Kan. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Kansas City. Arrangements by Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home. She was born in Kansas City, Kan., and had been a resident before moving to Crane four years ago. She was Episcopalian. SURVIVORS: Sons, Dale K. Burtner Jr. of Franklin, Ind., and Charles D. Burtner of Scottsdale, Ariz.; daughter, Leslie Gregory of Crane; brother, Arnold W. Davidson of El Paso; and five grandchildren. Valentine Castro RANGER Valentine Val Castro, 50, of Odessa, a mechanic, died Wednesday, July 4, 2001, at his residence. Services were at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Speer officiating. Burial was at Evergreen Cemetery. Arrangements by Edwards Funeral Home. He was born in Ranger. He was Catholic. SURVIVORS: Wife, Alice Castro of Odessa; sons, Van Castro, Thad Castro, Brian Castro and James Castro, all of Odessa; brother, Joe Castro of Royce City; sisters, Helen Gomez, Rosa Waltman and Caroline Martinez, all of Ranger, Lupe Rodriguez of Cedar Hill and Julia Acosta of Naples, Fla.; and nine grandchildren. Dorothy Losson KERMIT Dorothy R. Losson, 65, of Kermit, a sales clerk, died Saturday, July 7, 2001, at Kermit Healthcare Center in Kermit. Memorial services will be at a later date. Arrangements by Cooper Funeral Chapel. She was born in Ada, Okla., and was a resident of Kermit for 11 years. She was Baptist. SURVIVORS: Nephew, Billy Joe Campbell Jr. of Odessa; and niece, Lawanna Miller of Odessa. Erma Parks ODESSA Erma Polly Parks, 81, of Odessa, a homemaker, died Monday, July 9, 2001, at Parks Methodist Retirement Village. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Jimmy Braswell officiating. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. She was born in Johnson County, Ark., and moved to Odessa in 1982 from Tatum, N.M. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church. SURVIVORS: Daughters, Beverly Shelton of Lubbock and Melba Cardwell of Odessa; brothers, L.E. Berry of Monahans and F.W.
