                               Sawyer Atchley
    MIDLAND Sawyer Thomas Atchley, infant son of Sean and Reina Atchley,
             died Thursday, July 19, 2001, at a local hospital.
    Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Resthaven Memorial
    Park with the Rev. Ty Morris Jr. officiating. Arrangements by Ellis
                               Funeral Home.
      SURVIVORS: Parents; grandparents, Robert and Susanne Watkins of
      Monahans, and Richard and Nancy Atchley of Humble; and numerous
               great-grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.
                               Bobbie Barber
     ODESSA Bobbie Rhea Barber, 56, a homemaker, died Sunday, July 22,
                     2001, at Medical Center Hospital.
   Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens with
   the Rev. Charles McIntyre officiating. Arrangements by Sunset Memorial
                               Funeral Home.
                   She was a lifelong resident of Odessa.
        SURVIVORS: Son, Scott Barber of Odessa; and one grandchild.
                              Mary Bortzfield
    CRANE Mary Bortzfield, 85, of Crane died Saturday, July 21, 2001, at
                         Midland Memorial Hospital.
      Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Shaffer-Nichols
   Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bob Petree officiating. Burial will
    be at Crane County Cemetery. Arrangements by Shaffer-Nichols Funeral
                                   Home.
     She was born in Watkins, Okla., and was a member of the Christian
                                  Church.
    SURVIVORS: Daughter, Teresa Bortzfield Clark of Midland; son, Evert
   James Jim Bortzfield of Dallas; and sister, Mildred Collums of Tulsa,
          Okla.; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
                               Michael Garvey
     ODESSA Michael Garvey, 24, manager of a hair salon in Dallas, died
                     Friday, July 20, 2001, in Dallas.
   Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at University Park Baptist
   Church with the Rev. Johnny Witherspoon officiating. Burial will be at
    Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
     SURVIVORS: Parents, Mike and Dennine Garvey of Odessa; and sister,
                           Athena Moon of Odessa.
                                 Jose Ruiz
   ODESSA Jose Angel Ruiz, 75, a retired road maintenance worker for the
     Texas Department of Highways, died Saturday, July 21, 2001, at his
                                 residence.
     Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic
   Church with the Rev. Fidelo Lugo officiating. Burial will be at Ector
      County Cemetery. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at Martinez
            Funeral Home. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home.
       He was born in Fort Stockton. He was an Army veteran of WWII.
     SURVIVORS: Son, Armando Ruiz of Odessa; daughters, Hilda A. Ruiz,
    Angela Sanchez and Adelina Rodriguez, all of Odessa, and Erlinda R.
    Barnes of Dayton, Tenn.; brothers, Jose A. Ruiz of Anaheim, Calif.,
     Chris Ruiz of Escondido, Calif., and Manuel Ruiz, of Fort Mohave,
    Ariz.; sisters Anita Vigil of Lakewood, Calif., and Concha Montez of
            Hawaiian Gardens, Calif; six grandchildren and three
                            great-grandchildren.
                            Celestino Valenzuela
      ALPINE Celestino Tino Valenzuela, 89, of Alpine, a retired movie
       projectionist, died Thursday, July 19, 2001, at his residence.
   Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today at Our Lady of Peace Catholic
      Church in Alpine with the Rev. Rick Ruiz officiating. Graveside
        services will be at 1 p.m. at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
                   Arrangements by Geeslin Funeral Home.
                  He was born in Alpine. He was Catholic.
   SURVIVORS: Wife, Rosa Valenzuela of Alpine; sons, Tino Valenzuela Jr.
   of El Paso and Robert Valenzuela of Alpine; daughters, Armida Spurlock
   of Los Angeles, Rosemary Hernandez and Valerie Parra, both of Andrews,
       and Nora Valenzuela of Albuquerque, N.M.; 13 grandchildren; 20
            great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

    ODESSA Carol Brewer, 54, of Odessa died Saturday, July 21, 2001, at
                               her residence.
           Services are pending with Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
                               C.L. Thornburg
   ODESSA C.L. Thornburg, 57, of Odessa died Friday, July 20, 2001, at a
                              local hospital.
