September 17, 2001 Vern Humphrey ANDREWS - Vern Humphrey, 72, a welding supply salesman, died Sunday, Sept. 16, 2001, at his home in Midland. A prayer vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Ellis Funeral Home Chapel with family visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Thursday in St. Ann's Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park. Arrangements by Ellis Funeral Home. He was born in Oklahoma City, Okla., and moved to Texas in 1953. He was Navy veteran and Catholic. SURVIVORS: Wife, Martha Humphrey, of Midland; son, John Humphrey, of Artesia, N.M.; and two grandchildren. Lynn Moore ODESSA - Lynn F. Moore, 70, of Odessa, owner of Mission Well Service, died Friday, Sept. 14, 2001, at his residence. Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday in the Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Jimmy Braswell officiating. Military graveside services will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens cemetery. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. He was born in Coleman and moved to Odessa in 1942 from Dallas. He served in the Navy during the Korean Conflict. SURVIVORS: Wife, Sue Moore, of Odessa; sons, Darrell Moore, of Odessa, and Robert Moore, of Flower Mound; daughters, Sandi Moore, of Plano, and Kari Pfeifer, of McKinney; mother, Nelle Moore, of Odessa; brother, Jesse B. Moore, of Odessa; and six grandchildren. Asencion Palomino ODESSA - Asencion "Chona" T. Palomino, 81, of Odessa, a housewife, died Sunday, Sept. 16, 2001, at her residence. Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with the Rev. Gilbert Rodriguez officiating. Arrangements by Odessa Funeral Home Angeles Memorial Chapel. She was born in Grandfalls. She was Catholic. Ruby Rankin ODESSA - Ruby Rankin, 88, of Odessa, a former Sears employee, died Saturday, Sept. 15, 2001, in a local hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Ernest Easley officiating. Graveside services will follow at 2 p.m. in Trinity Memorial Park in Big Spring. Services under the direction of Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. She was born in Glasscock County and moved to Odessa in 1937. She was Baptist. SURVIVORS: Husband, Thomas C. Rankin, of Odessa; sons, Leroy Rankin and Forrest Rankin, both of Odessa, and Bob Rankin , of Mount Pleasant; brother, Floyd Phillips, of Hext; sister, Ethel Cunningham, of Booneville, Ark.; and seven grandchildren.
