January 01, 2001 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ Nancy Camp Dean Nancy Camp Dean, lifetime resident of Pecos, Texas, died on Saturday, December 30, 2000, at Reeves County Memorial Hospital. Born on August 30, 1916, Mrs. Dean was the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Jim Camp, early residents of Pecos. She graduated from Pecos High School in 1934, where she was football queen. She graduated from Texas Christian University in 1937 and then attended Babson College. She married John Robert (Bob) Dean on July 21, 1938. She was a lifetime member of the First Christian Church of Pecos and was active in the Merry Wives Club for over 50 years. She is survived by her four children, Robert Camp (Bobby) Dean of Pecos, Nancy Dean Egan of Dallas, David Jim Hilliard Dean of Sydney, Australia, and Mary Bird Dean Bowman of Austin; six grandchildren, Elizabeth Egan, Katherine Egan Bennett, Mary Egan, Dorothy Dean, Daniel Dean and Jonathon Bowman; one step-grandchild, Laura Quinonez; and two step-great-grandchildren, Jennifer Bennett and Mark Bennett. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Keith Camp and Dr. Hilliard Camp; and her husband. Memorial service will be held on Monday, January 1, 2001, at 2 p.m. at the First Christian Church in Pecos, Texas. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Christian Church of Pecos or the West of the Pecos Museum. _________________________________________________________________ Raymond Thomas Weatherford Raymond Thomas Weatherford, 82, of Odessa passed away Thursday, December 28, 2000, at his residence. He was born September 2, 1918, to Milton and Arizona Weatherford in Boswell, Okla. He married Doris Snow on Nov. 28, 1945, and moved to Odessa in 1954. Mr. Weatherford served in World War II throughout Southern France and Central Europe as part of the 45th Infantry Division. He faithfully served our Lord as a charter member of Central Baptist Church. He retired from Phillips Petroleum after 30 years of dedicated service. He is survived by his beloved wife, Doris Weatherford of Odessa, son, Terry Weatherford and his wife, Eve of Temple, children, Scott, Travis, and Shanna; three daughters: Jan Hewitt and her husband, Billy of Odessa, children, Christie and Chad; Nancy Schenkel of Odessa and son Cody; Becky Miller and her husband, Paul of Odessa, children Jason and Jared; two sisters, Ada Martin of San Angelo and Sue Pigg of Dripping Springs; two brothers, Milton Weatherford of Borger and Clarence Weatherford of Dumas; and seven great grandchildren. Numerous family members and a host of friends also survive him. A celebration in memory of his life is scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2000, at Central Baptist Church with the Rev. David Johnson and Hospice Chaplain Rev. Dr. Jimmy Braswell officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Chad Hewitt, Scott Weatherford, and Cody Schenkel, Travis Battreal; nephews Don Witte, Richard Witte and Mike Witte.
