                                Sam L. Oates
                                      
   ODESSA A service of celebration was held for Sam Oates on Monday, Jan.
        22, 2001, at Immanuel Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Cook
   officiating. Sam passed away Friday, Jan. 19, 2001, at his residence.
                                      
   Survivors include his wife, Janet Oates; sons, Nikolas and Kristopher;
     daughter, Samantha Oates; sister, Susie Wheaton and husband Don of
     Arlington; parents, C.W. and Gay Oates of Odessa; nephews, Ben and
   Ross Wheaton and Joshua and Marcus Compis; and numerous aunts, uncles
         and cousins. He was preceded by one brother, Chuck Oates.
                                      
   The family requests memorials to be made to the Ellen Noel Art Museum.
                                      
      Arrangements were handled by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.
