February 08, 2001 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ [INLINE] Marvin S. Marv Coulson Jr. ODESSA Marvin S. "Marv" Coulson Jr., 36, of Odessa passed away Monday, Feb. 5, 2001. He was born July 3, 1964, in Kingman, Ariz. Marvin came to Odessa from Modesto, Calif., in 1993. He married Gina Magar Dec. 26, 1986, in Modesto and was a member of the Mormon Church. He was a construction foreman for Rama Fabrication/ Interstate Treating. He enjoyed trout fishing and water skiing. He was very mechanically inclined and enjoyed racing sprint cars. He was known to his friends as "Marvelous Marvin." His wife considered him her "gentle giant in suspenders." Services will be at 3 p.m. today, Feb. 8, 2001, at Sunset Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Preston Weatherly of Lutheran Church of the Risen Lord officiating. Survivors include his wife, Gina Coulson of Odessa; son, Tracy Coulson of Camp Pendelton, Calif.; father, Marvin Coulson Sr. of Salt Lake City, Utah; grandparents, Earl and Betty Romriell of Apache Junction, Ariz., and Gordon and Alta Bateman of Fresno, Calif.; and a brother, Alex D. Coulson of Fort Worth. Services entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ [INLINE] James Gilbert Hinchliffe ODESSA James Gilbert Hinchliffe, 84, of Odessa passed away Monday, Feb. 5, 2001, in Breckenridge. He was born Sept. 2, 1916, in Mexia. He served in the 36th Infantry Division during World War II. He was seriously injured in Italy and received the Purple Heart. He was awarded two bronze stars and a silver star in recognition of his bravery in action. He was honorably discharged in 1945. He moved to Odessa in 1954 and began to work with AMOCO until his retirement in 1984. He was a longtime member of Northside Baptist Church where he acquired many friends. Mr. Hinchliffe will be remembered and loved by all of his family. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Becky Hinchliffe in 1965, Agnes Hinchliffe, his second wife, in 1996 and also by four brothers and sisters. Survivors are sons, David "Ebb" Hinchliffe and wife Rory of Arlington, Gil Hinchliffe and friend Gwen of Breckenridge and Gene Walters and wife Nona of Odessa; daughters, Sarah Ogilvy and husband Mike and Nita Martel and husband Mo, all of Odessa; brothers, Burnis Fore of Meterie, La., Norman Hinchliffe of Earth and Maurice Hinchliffe of Mexia; sister, Margaret Hinchliffe of Irving; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Feb. 8, 2001, at Northside Baptist Church with the Rev. Clydell Chapman officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels, Northside Baptist Church or Door of Hope Mission. Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ Wilford P. Bill Holland COMANCHE Wilford P. "Bill" Holland was born April 20, 1924, in Concho County and passed away Feb. 6, 2001, at Abilene Regional Medical Center in Abilene. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Johnnie Townsend Holland as well as his children, Ronald of Eagle Lake, Edwin and his wife Vada Jean, also of Eagle Lake, and a daughter, LaRonda and her husband Richard Sickels of Maple Grove, Minn., seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Holland moved with his parents, brothers and sisters to Big Spring in the early 30s. He grew up there, attending local schools. In 1942, he joined the Army and was a sergeant in the 554th Anti Aircraft Battalion of the 29th Division of the Fifth Army. He served in five campaigns in Europe and was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star for valor. Upon his return from military service, he joined Martin Linen and worked for them in Big Spring and Tulsa, Okla., during the 40s and early 50s. In 1958, Holland went to work for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company and was employed by them until 1962 when he went to work as office manager for Gandys Dairies in Odessa. In 1974, he joined Rykin Pump Company as office manager and subsequently worked for Quality Pump Company before retiring in 1988 to Comanche where he was living at the time of his passing. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9, 2001, at Comanche Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Gardens of Memory Ceme-tery in Comanche County with Comanche Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Memorial may be sent to the Comanche County Public Library, which was so instrumental in helping with his favorite lifes work, the writing of a 10-generation family history of his ancestry.
