February 08, 2001 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ [INLINE] Dennis Carl Albright ODESSA Dennis Carl Albright, age 30, of Houston passed away Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2001, at Memorial City Herman Hospital in Houston. Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. today at Sunset Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Bob Hopkins of the Midland First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Dennis was born Sept. 18, 1970, in Midland. He moved with his family in 1978 to West Columbia, where he graduated from West Columbia High School. He had been a Houston resident since 1989. Dennis worked for a car dealership in their make-ready department. Survivors include his parents, Dan and Debbie Sharp of Houston; his brother, Jim and his wife, Melissa, of New Braunfels; stepbrothers, Trey Sharp of Bettendorf, Iowa, and Tommy Sharp of Ocean Springs, Miss.; stepsisters, Rosalind Brannan of Houston, Abby Booth of Sherman and Amy Sharp of New Orleans; his grandparents, Oren and Corene Albright of Midland; four nieces; and six nephews. The family has requested memorials to be made in memory of Dennis Albright to the Houston S.P.C.A., 900 Portway, Houston, Texas, 77024, or Brookwood Community, 1752 F.M. 1489, Brookshire, Texas, 77423. _________________________________________________________________ Aileen Fesmire ODESSA Aileen Fesmire, 84, of Odessa passed away Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital. She was born Aug. 23, 1916, in Dunn. She moved to Odessa in 1934 from Snyder. She married C.A. Fesmire Aug. 6, 1934, in Snyder. He preceded her in death. She was currently working for Dunlaps Department Store, where she had worked as a clerk for 35 years. She was a charter member of the Medical Center Hospital Auxiliary. She was also a member of Belmont Baptist Church. Survivors are her son, Gus Fesmire of Odessa; daughter, Jolene Boone of Houston; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. today, Feb. 9, 2001, at the Old Snyder Cemetery in Snyder. Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ [INLINE] Hattie Mae Garrett ODESSA Hattie Mae Douglas Garrett, 96, died Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 6, 2001, at Mabee Health Care Center in Midland. She was born Nov. 30, 1904, in Acorn Ridge, Mo., one of three children of Joe and Hattie Douglas. She married Virgil Fenton Garrett June 1, 1928, in Oklahoma City. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 11, 2001, at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church with Father Michael Jasper officiating. Mrs. Garrett resided in Dallas for 59 years before moving to Manor Park in Midland in 1991. In Dallas, she was a member of St. Michaels and All Angels Episcopal Church. She was preceded in death by her husband March 13, 1991, and her son, Robert Douglas Garrett July 11, 1997. She is survived by a daughter, Joyce Garrett Freeland of Odessa; three grandchildren, Marsha Dossey of Edmond, Okla., Anne McKandles of Pampa and Paul Freeland of Odessa; and six great-grandchildren, Lisa Dossey, Daniel Dossey, Katie Vandiver, Kimberlea McKandles, David Freeland and Michael Freeland. Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, 2001, at Sunset Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. David was born Nov. 16, 1978, in Laredo to Gary and Alicia Gray. They came to Midland in 1985 from Cotulla. He was a 1997 graduate of Midland High School. He was a cook at the Club at Mission Dorado. David enjoyed model cars and was an avid outdoorsman. He loved his daughter and family. His grandmother, Elvia Casiano, preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Kathy Casas Gray of Odessa; his daughter, Samantha Marie Gray of Odessa; his parents, Gary and Alicia Gray of Odessa; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Alejandra Gonzales of Encinal and Mr. and Mrs. M.P. Gray of Pontotoc, Miss.; a sister, Mary Jo Gray of Odessa; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. The family requests donations to the Leukemia Society of America. _________________________________________________________________ Wilda B. Mobley SAN ANGELO Wilda B. Mobley went to meet her maker Feb. 7, 2001, at a local nursing home. Wilda was born in Sonora as one of seven girls and three boys to the late Benton L. and Emma P. Binyon. She was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters as well as her husband, Robert T. Mobley. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. Wilda spent most of her married life in Odessa where she was a member of the United Methodist Church. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. today, Feb. 9, 2001, at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa. Memorial contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation or your favorite charity. "Pat" Patterson passed away Thursday, Feb. 8, 2001, at his residence. He was 80. Mr. Patterson was born Feb. 22, 1920, in Fannin County. He served his country in World War II with the Second Battalion, 131st Field Artillery, during which time the Japanese held him for 42 months as a prisoner of war. He was a member of the Lost Battalion Association. After the war, he met and married Louise Kimbrall April 20, 1946, in Fort Worth. They moved to Odessa in 1949, where he began working for Rowan Drilling. He was employed there for 32 years as a rig mechanic. After retiring in 1981, he became an avid reader of historical materials. In 1994, he came out of retirement to start his own business, Patterson and Sons Signs. He celebrated his second retirement in 1999, at which time he turned the helm over to his youngest son. Mr. Patterson was a lifetime member of both the Disabled American Veterans and the American Ex-Prisoners of War. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Louise Patterson, and his brother, Clifton "Buddy" Patterson. He is survived by two sons, David and wife Kaye Patterson and John and wife Lisa Patterson; two grandsons, Daniel and wife Debbie Patterson and James Patterson; a granddaughter, Cynthia Patterson, all of Odessa; two sisters, Alice Kizer of Wichita Falls and Mildred Wright of Fort Worth; a sister-in-law, Merl Patterson of Childress; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Services will be at 10 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, 2001, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel. Burial service will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will receive visitors between 6:30 and 8 p.m. today. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the World War II Memorial or Home Hospice of Odessa.
