February 26, 2001 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ [INLINE] Lora A. Brightwell Lora A. Brightwell, age 75 of Odessa, passed away at Medical Center Hospital on Friday, Feb. 23, 2001. Services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001, at Sunset Memorial Chapel with Rev. Jim Ray Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Family visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 26, 2001, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Lora was born on May 24, 1925, in Minard to Roy and Gertrude Balch Brown. She married Gale Brightwell on July 17, 1953, in Carlsbad, N.M. They came to Odessa shortly after their marriage. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting and embroidery. She had operated a daycare in her home for many years. She was a member of West Side Christian Church. Survivors include her children, Debbie McNiel of Lindale, Chris Frasier of Odessa, Jimmy Brightwell and wife Diana, of Midland, Cindy Shrum and Sue Rogers, both of Odessa; 10 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; brothers, Ray Brown and his wife, Shirley, of Iraan; Clifford Brown of Fort Worth; sister, Faye Yoakum and husband, Yogie, of Houston; close friends, Clara Robinson and Donna Everhart. She was preceded in death by her mother, Gertrude Brown, and by her husband, Gale Brightwell. Memorials can be made to the American Lung Association.
