April 12, 2001 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ Ferril C. Brown ODESSA Ferril C. Brown, 79, of Odessa passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2001, at his residence. He was born Oct. 27, 1921, in Kansas City, Kan. He married Jocelyn Lee Durrett July 3, 1952, in Fort Worth. She preceded him in death June 9, 1998. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He was an insurance salesman and a member of First Presbyterian Church. Survivors are his sons, Guy Brown and wife Martha of Dallas, Joel Brown and wife Cheryl of Irving, Lee Brown and wife Delia of Joshua and Jay Brown and wife Laurie of Irving; and three grandchildren, Parker, Mia and Grace. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 13, 2001, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with a memorial service to follow at 10:30 a.m. at Hubbard-Kelly Chapel with the Rev. Sherry Holloman officiating. Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ Allie Ruth Webb ODESSA Allie Ruth Webb, age 98, of Odessa was called home to the Lord Tuesday, April 10, 2001, at her residence. She was born March 29, 1903, in Allen County, Kan., to Charles and Lou Ella Boggs. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 13, 2001, at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 14, 2001, in the chapel of Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors with the Revs. David Weyant and David Ring officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Allie married George O. Webb Feb. 14, 1923, in Wichita Falls. They moved to Odessa in January 1938. She was a longtime member of Highland United Methodist Church and was active in the Builders Class. She was a loving wife and mother who provided strength to her family and friends through the Depression and wars. Her perseverance in life allowed her to see the good in all things. She was a wonderful friend with a great sense of humor that will be missed by all who knew her. She enjoyed her grandkids, who were the apples of her eye. She was preceded in death by her husband, George O. Webb, in 1978; daughters, Betty Jo Webb and Evelyn Grace Bills; and four brothers and two sisters. She is survived by a daughter, Mattie Lou Melton and husband Don of Odessa; a sister, Dora Payette of Fletcher, Okla.; three grandchildren, Steve Tayloe and wife Marty of Odessa, Melton Bills and wife Barbara of Spring Branch and Terri Brown and husband John of Midway, Ga.; three great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. (www.wilsonfuneral.com) _________________________________________________________________ Cleo Iris Gorum Haston KERMIT On April 10, 2001, beloved Cleo Haston passed away in her home after a lengthy illness. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 14, 2001, at the Kermit Cemetery with Brother Emmett Upchurch officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, April 13, 2001, at Martinez Funeral Home Chapel. Cleo resided in Kermit since 1974 and was well known as an artist, teacher, wife, mother and friend by many. This lovely lady will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She was a member of Belvue Baptist Church. She was born the 11th of 12 children Sept. 3, 1921, in Boyce, La. She is survived by her husband, Hubert Haston; three children, Delores Van Ryan, Malcolm Speight and Pamela Henegar; and stepson, Virgel Haston. There are 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and three siblings who also survive her. Rest in peace. Funeral arrangements under the direction of Martinez Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ Kevin Kyle Howk AUSTIN Kevin Kyle Howk went home to the Lord April 6, 2001. He will always be remembered as a survivor by the family and friends who bore witness to his courageous battle against cancer. Kevin was born Nov. 29, 1969, in Plattsburgh, N.Y., and eventually made his home in Whitehall, N.Y. He struggled with illness throughout much of his life and was diagnosed with osteogenic sarcoma in September 1999. Kevin was in Austin, with his family at his side, at the time of his passing. No services will be held at this time. However, his ashes will be returned home to New York where a memorial gathering is being planned for early summer. Memorial donations in Kevins honor can be made to: Bethany Memorial Reformed Church, Cancer Ministries, 400 E. 67th St., New York City, N.Y., 10021.
