April 18, 2001 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ Jean Robinson MONAHANS Jean Robinson, longtime Monahans resident, passed away Monday, April 16, 2001, at Ward Memorial Hospital in Monahans. Jean was born Aug. 20, 1931, in Wichita Falls to Raymond and Judith Ellis. Jean married Dan D. Robinson Jan. 31, 1953, in Monahans. Dan preceded her in death July 22, 1985. Jean was a very active, civic-minded person, serving her community in many areas. Jean was a three-year past president of the Desert Sands Garden Club, past two-year president of the Tau Lambda Study Club and president of the Episcopal Church Womens Group. Jean was preceded in death by two sons, Stephen Paul Robinson and Timothy Paul Robinson; a daughter, Nancye Kathryn Robinson; a brother, Kenneth Engebretson; and a sister, Joy Engebretson. Jean is survived by a son, Paul Richard Robinson of Monahans; five brothers, Ronnie Ellis of Bedford, Lolan Ellis of Anaheim, Calif., Nolan Ellis of Castro Valley, Calif., David Madding of Ratan, Okla., and Tommy Engebretson of Aubrey; and three sisters, Lou Elam of Monahans, Jacqulyn Minor of Louisville and Sonja Engebretson of The Colony. Jean is also survived by three grandchildren, Kristen Elaine Robinson and James Austin Robinson of Greenwood and April Kahle of Midland. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 19, 2001, at St. James Episcopal Church in Monahans with Father Malcolm Slater officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Harkey Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ Eleanor Giddens CLEBURNE Eleanor Giddens, 94, a retired school teacher, died Sunday, April 15, 2001, in Alvarado. Funeral graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, April 19, 2001, at Rose Hill Cemetery in Cleburne. Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at Crosier-Pearson-Mayfield Funeral Home of Cleburne. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association and Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Eleanor Giddens was born April 22, 1906, in Commerce and was a resident of Cleburne for 20 years. She received her masters of education degree from East Texas State University and taught third grade in Ector County, Bono, Lone Willow and Alvarado, Texas, public schools. She also served in the U.S. Army from 1944-45 and was a member of the Veteran Womens Army Corps.
