Rick was born Aug. 17, 1951, to Jerry Jim and Elena Tillotson in Pampa. For the next 13 years, Rick and his family followed his fathers pursuit of work in the oilfields of West Texas, New Mexico and Colorado. The family settled in Fort Stockton where Rick graduated from Fort Stockton High School in the spring of 1970. Upon his graduation, Rick enrolled at Texas State Technological Institute, whose campus was located in Waco. With his graduation from TSTI, Rick became employed by Stewart and Stevenson and was still employed with them at the time of his death. Rick started as a floor mechanic and worked his way up to the position of used and rebuilt equipment coordinator. This can be considered quite an accomplishment with the tendency of people to change employers as the oil and gas market either booms or busts. During his tenure with Stewart and Stevenson, Rick traveled to and worked in Europe (the continent proper and Russia), Africa and South America. He was well respected by his peers and requested by many customers to be on the job. The year of 1983, Rick met the love of his life, Kathie. They were married Dec. 31, 1986. This marriage ceremony took place on the beach in Hawaii. Rick and Kathie returned every year to the island and celebrated this union with a love for each other and the island. Ricks next great passion was for anything mechanical and fast. He built and raced hot rods in his youth, always wanting to go faster. This love transposed itself from hot rods to Harleys in the last years of his life. He built them, rode them, rebuilt them, and there was constantly one in the works. He leaves many biker friends across the nation and will be remembered as a good craftsman and a friend that could always be counted on in a pinch. Rick passed where and how he wanted to, working on the island of Hawaii. Rick was preceded in death by his Dad, Jerry, and his brother, Malcolm Arnold Tillotson. Rick is survived by his wife, Kathie of Odessa; a daughter, Kimberly of Abilene; his mother, Elena Tillotson of Odessa; his brother, Jimmy Leroy Tillotson of Fort Stockton; sister, Vivian T. Hickman and husband Terry of Fort Stockton; nephews, Jeffry Charles and Jerry Jim J.J. of Fort Stockton, Jeremy Wayne and wife Dezi of Silver City, N.M.; great-nieces, Elizabeth and Alyssa; in-laws, Mr. and Mrs. E.W. Nolan of Andrews; brother-in-law, Joel Nolan and wife Deborah and their daughter Amanda, all of Phoenix, Ariz.; a sister-in-law, Sherri Tillotson; niece, Katherine; and nephew, Nicholas Tillotson, all of Bedford. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. today, May 30, 2001, at Redeemer Lutheran Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church, 824 E. 18th St., Odessa, Texas, 79761. _________________________________________________________________ Shannon Shawn Ray Weeks ODESSA Shannon Shawn Ray Weeks, 18 years of age, passed away Saturday, May 26, 2001, in San Angelo.
