June 11, 2001 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ Mary Tyree ODESSA Mary Estelle Tyree, 79, of Odessa, passed away Saturday, June 9, 2001, at Avalon Place. Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 12, 2001, at Sunset Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Melvin Warren of First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Mary was born in Colorado City on March 31, 1922, to Luther and Viola Winberry Gaskins. She married Thomas Tunstall Tyree on July 2, 1942, in San Angelo and they moved to Odessa in 1951. Her parents; a brother, Lynton Gaskins; and two sisters, Vera Neuland and Doris Newman preceded her in death. Mary Tyree was a member of the American Poetry Society and had published both Christian music and poetry. She was a member of First Baptist Church. Mary was a devout Christian; she loved her church and the Lord. She devoted her time to Christian poetry and music. Mary never had a bad thought. Survivors include her son, Terry T. Tyree and wife Carla of Odessa; a brother, Conrad Gaskins of West Monroe, La.; a daughter-in-law, Judy Tyree; three grandchildren, Tiffany Tyree Barnes, Heather Diane Smith and Hilary Tyree; and a great-granddaughter, Hanna Renault. The family requests that memorial donations be made to Home Hospice or Meals on Wheels. Pallbearers for the service will be Jim McKay, Mac McLemore, Kenny Broyles, Sonny Henderson, Daren Webster and Marilyn McVean. Honorary pallbearers are Vern Foreman and Conrad Roberson.
