June 14, 2001 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ Larry F. Turner ODESSA Larry F. Turner, 59, of Odessa passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital. Mr. Turner was born March 11, 1942, in Big Spring. He moved to Odessa in 1957 from Terminal. He graduated from Odessa High School and later attended Odessa College. He married Sharon Elaine Denney on Oct. 23, 1998, in Odessa. Larry loved riding horses, especially cutting horses, and will be remembered for his gift of gab. He had been the owner of Turner Auto Supply for many years and was a member of the Sixth and Jackson Church of Christ. Larry is survived by his wife, Sharon E. Turner; three sons, Todd Turner and his wife Julie, Larry F. Turner and Justin Turner; his stepson, Scotty Denney; two daughters, Sherry Rood and her husband George and Leslie F. Turner; his stepdaughter, Lori L. Denney; his parents, Jack and Maureen Turner; and five grandchildren, Matt, Tori, Zach, Travis and Trevor, all of Odessa. Public visitation will be held from noon to 9 p.m. today with the family to receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, June 15, 2001, at Sixth and Jackson Church of Christ with Roy Smalling and Deral McWhorter officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Sandhills Quarter Horse Show and Rodeo Association of Odessa. Armes ODESSA On Tuesday, June 12, 2001, the Angels came to earth to take Mozelle Armes home to be with the Lord. She was born Aug. 11, 1926, to Ernest and Inez Kimble in Howard County, Ark. The beloved wife of Paul C. Armes for 44 years. They were well suited for each other, sharing a life together with great care given each to the other. She was preceded in death by a son, Ernie Tucker of California. Mozelle is survived by her husband, Paul; three sons, Ralph Tucker of California, Morris Armes and Boogie Armes of Levelland; and daughter, Linda Hensley of Levelland. She also had eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. today, June 14, 2001, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Griffin Jones officiating. Memorials may be made to Temple Baptist Church or your favorite charity. Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ William Ranny Orren ODESSA William Ranny Orren, age 59, of Odessa died Wednesday, June 13, 2001, at his residence. He was born July 21, 1941, in Brownwood. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, June 14, 2001, at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 15, 2001, at Ector County Cemetery with Pastor David Adkins officiating. Mr. Orren was raised in Odessa and graduated from high school in 1959. He lived and worked in Odessa for many years and was active in the Odessa Jaycees. He married Shirley Whitehurst on Aug. 21, 1981, in Lovington, N.M. He had a great sense of humor until the very end. He will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Orren of Odessa; daughters, Christy Henderson and Michelle Hough of Odessa; stepson, R.L. Callahan of Lynchburg, Va.; stepdaughter, Shelli Auld of Sundown; grandchildren, Gary Dean Trout and Kelby Charles Hough of Odessa; six stepgranchildren; a stepgreat-grandchild; brother, William K. Orren of Odessa; and sister, Jo Ann Scott of Odessa. Services have been entrusted to Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors. (www.wilsonfuneral.com) _________________________________________________________________ John H. Bean ODESSA John H. Bean, 81, of Odessa went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 13, 2001. Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, June 15, 2001, at Sunset Heights Baptist Church with Pastor Jesse Little officiating. Burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. He was born Dec. 22, 1919, in Comanche to Osier May and Mattie Bean. He married Doris Jo Nickell on Jan. 7, 1940. He served in the Navy during World War II on an aircraft carrier. He retired from Sivalls with a 15-year award. He won several safe driving awards. He worked in the oilfields since 1940. He came to Odessa in 1949. He raised a family of six, most of the time drawing only minimum wage. He loved the Lord. Survivors include sons, Henry D. Bean of Wingate and George Bean of Round Rock; daughter, Delores Buchanan of Odessa; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
