June 26, 2001 Permian Basin Obituaries Margaret Henderson ODESSA Nola Margaret (Hinds) Henderson, 84, of Odessa, passed away Saturday, June 23, 2001, at her residence. Mrs. Henderson was born Jan. 17, 1917, in Winters, Texas, to Nugent C. and Bessie Hinds. She married the late Travis William Moreland on Dec. 26, 1936, in Ballinger. They lived most of their married life in Odessa. Mrs. Henderson married the late Robert S. Henderson Dec. 31, 1963, in San Angelo. He preceded her in death in 1985. Mrs. Henderson graduated from Odessa College as a licensed vocational nurse and practiced at Shannon Hospital and Park Plaza Nursing Home in San Angelo until her retirement in 1983. She was a member of the YMCA Rocker-ettes, a seniors line dancing group, and had been a founding member of the Friendship Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star No. 1008. She is survived by one son, Duane Moreland and his wife Judith of Odessa; one daughter, Glenda Nix Ball and her husband Brian of Dallas; one stepson, Robert S. Henderson Jr. and his wife Pam of San Angelo; two brothers, J. Norris Hinds of Odessa and James E. Hinds of Belton; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Monday, June 25, 2001, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. today, June 26, 2001, at Fair Mount Cemetery in San Angelo. Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ Ernest Floyd Trip Triplett SAN ANGELO Ernest Floyd Trip Triplett was born in Hydro, Okla., Nov. 4, 1918, to E.C. and Eva Triplett. He grew up on a farm between Weatherford, Okla., and Hydro. He went to business college in Oklahoma City and owned a business there. He came to Fort Stockton in 1942 while in the Army. While in Fort Stockton, he was the Deputy Tax Assessor for Pecos County from 1946 to 1948 and was the first Business Manager/Tax Assessor for the Fort Stockton Independent School District from 1948 to 1975. He was the County Tax Assessor/Collector from 1975 to his retirement in 1995. He was married to Ruth Lannom on May 3, 1945, until she preceded him in death in 1979. He remarried on Nov. 4, 1989, to Geraldine Garner. Trip was always involved and active in the community and county affairs. He was Past Master of the Fort Stockton Lodge, Past President of the Noon Lions Club in Fort Stockton, director of the Lions Club Crippled Childrens Camp in Kerrville, District Governor of the West Texas District of Lions Club and was picked as Outstanding Citizen of Fort Stockton and Outstanding Lion of the Year. Trip was also inducted into the Lions Club Hall of Fame. He was honored as Tax Assessor/Collector of the Year. He was involved with the Salvation Army and Boy Scouts for numerous years. His other honors and accomplishments are too numerous to mention but he touched many lives with his generosity and giving spirit. Trip is survived by his wife, Geraldine of San Angelo; his brother, Tom Triplett of Hydro; two daughters, Kay Hemphill of Fort Stockton and Ann Stafford of Andrews; a stepson, Johny Garner of Plano; three stepdaughters, Judy Hobert of Munday, Beverly Ray of Longview and Lisa Morales of Richardson; 14 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 10 a.m. today, June 26, 2001, at Robert Massie Funeral Home in San Angelo with Rev. Paul Shero of the Southgate Church of Christ presiding. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2001, at Easthill Cemetery in Fort Stockton with Delmon Hodges presiding. The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Lions Club Crippled Childrens Camp in Kerrville or to Hospice of San Angelo. _________________________________________________________________ William Bill Crook Sr. ODESSA William Bill Crook Sr., 78 years of age, passed away Sunday, June 24, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital. He was born Nov. 11, 1922, in Bartlesville, Okla., to James and Ida Mae Crook. He married Geneva Wilkins on June 20, 1975, in Monahans. He served in the Army during World War II and retired from Arco Oil Co. in 1984 after 36 years of service. He was raised on a farm and loved to raise animals. Mr. Crook is survived by his wife, Geneva Crook of Odessa; son, Bill Crook Jr. and his wife Peggy of Odessa; daughters, Linda Crook of Odessa and Mary Lou Clark and her husband Glenn of Odessa; brothers, Bob Crook of Louisiana and Hank Crook of Miami, Fla.; sisters, Jerry Yinks of Ackerly and Louise Bean of Talaqua, Okla.; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Odessa Funeral Home. Graveside services have been set for 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2001, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Services by Odessa Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ Lorene Shelton Hyder ODESSA Lorene Shelton Hyder, 89, of Odessa went to be with the Lord Sunday, June 24, 2001. She was born June 25, 1911, in Limestone County. She married Clyde Hyder on March 10, 1931, and he preceded her in death in March 1994. Mrs. Hyder was a homemaker. Lorene is survived by two daughters, Norvene Owen of Plainview and Rita Glasscock of Odessa; two sons, Garth Hyder of Foster, Ore., and Mel Hyder of Jenks, Okla. Her son-in-law, Tommy Glasscock, and daughter-in-law, Linda Hyder, had a very special place in her heart. She is also survived by two brothers, Clifton Shelton of Artesia, N.M., and Joe Shelton of Phoenix, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2001, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home with the Rev. K.M. McCarthick officiating. She was born April 3, 1928, in Marlow, Okla. She married Porter M. Moss in Oklahoma in 1945. She was a housewife and a Baptist. She was preceded in death by husband, Porter M. Moss, and parents, Boloy Lee and Clara Bell Robbins. Surviving are her son, Scotty Moss and wife Kimberly of Odessa; daughter, Robbie Slaughter of Arlington; three grandsons, Corey Branch of Grand Prairie, Randy Branch of Fort Worth and Jody Moss of Odessa; two granddaughters, Sunny Slaughter of Arlington and Tracie Dardredge of Odessa; and four great-grandchildren. She was born Oct. 30, 1931, in Detroit, Mich. She was a retired registered nurse and a Lutheran. She is survived by a daughter, Wendy Hilliard and husband Curtis of Odessa; sister, Mary Lou Liebler of Michigan; and five grandchildren, Sam Bergstrom, Michael Hilliard, Clessie Hilliard, Truett Hilliard and Elliott Hilliard, all of Odessa.
