   Paul Ed Gambell
   ODESSA Paul Ed Gambell, 71, of Odessa passed away Saturday, July 7,
   2001, at his residence following a lengthy illness.
   He was born Oct. 26, 1929, in St. Jo to Robert and Mae Gambell. He
   moved to Odessa in 1969 from Lakenheath, England. Ed retired in July
   1969 after serving 21 years in the United States Air Force. Ed also
   worked for the City of Odessa as director of equipment services from
   1970 to 1979 and Ector County Equipment Services from 1983 to 1989. He
   was a member of Westwood Baptist Church and also a member of the
   Masonic Lodge No. 955.
   Ed married Estelle Hodges on July 21, 1951, in Wichita Falls.
   He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Mae Gambell, and
   brother, Robert A. Gambell.
   Ed is survived by his wife, Estelle Gambell; his daughter, Paula
   Giesler and husband Harold of Odessa; sons, Phil Gambell of Austin and
   Bill Gambell and his wife Cheryl of Odessa; and grandchildren,
   Jonathan Giesler, Henry Gambell and Michelle Gambell.
   Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 11,
   2001, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Weeks DuBose
   of Westwood Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset
   Memorial Gardens.
   Pallbearers include Pat Land, Dale Land, Martin Ramos, Dennis Wilhite,
   Jon Dell Blair and Ken Hancock.
   Public visitation will be held from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. today.
   In lieu of usual remembrance, donations may be made to Community Care
   Hospice, 3641 N. Dixie Blvd., Odessa, Texas, 79762.
   Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

   Opal Howard
   ODESSA Opal D. Howard, 84, of Odessa passed away Sunday, July 8, 2001,
   at Avalon Nursing Center. She was born May 19, 1917, in Willow, Okla.,
   to Henry and Amy Dobson. They preceded her in death.
   Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. today, July 10, 2001, at Belmont
   Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
   Opal grew up in Whitharral after moving from Oklahoma in 1929. She
   worked as a beautician from 1937 to 1945, and then married Wayne
   Howard on Dec. 24, 1945. They later moved to Odessa in July 1959 where
   she worked with her husband in their business, Wayne Howard Heating
   and Air Conditioning. She was active in the Garden Club and Meals on
   Wheels and was a member of Belmont Baptist Church.
   Survivors include her husband, Wayne Howard; two sons, Rodney and Paul
   Howard, all of Odessa; a brother, Thurman Dobson of Levelland; four
   grandchildren, Kalen Altis, Gina Whitehead, Amanda Howard and Michael
   Henson; three great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
   The family request memorials be made to Belmont Baptist Church, 806 N.
   Belmont, Odessa, Texas, 79763.
          Services are entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
