Rocky Jack Clark was born March 6, 1958, in Hobbs, N.M. He was the son of Jackie Lee and Clara Zoe Hurt Clark. Rocky moved with his family at an early age to Odessa where he attended all 12 years of school. Rocky graduated from Permian High School in 1976. While in high school, Rocky was a member of the National Honor Society and served as president of the organization during his senior year. Additionally, he was active in varsity track and was the Texas Class 5A runner-up in cross-country his senior year. Rocky was also an Eagle Scout. Upon graduation, Rocky was awarded one of 66 academic scholarships given yearly by Phillips Petroleum Co. honoring scholastic achievement. He attended his freshman year at Brigham Young University in Salt Lake City. He then participated in a two-year mission in Rapid City, S.D., including American Indian Reservations in North and South Dakota. Upon completion of his mission, Rocky attended the Gemological Institute of America where he obtained certification as graduate gemologist. He was then employed for nearly 10 years as a gemologist for the American Jewelry Co. in Bakersfield, where he designed custom jewelry and also appraised and repaired jewelry. He had even obtained advanced training in platinum jewelry design. In the early 1990s, Rocky decided on a career change when he applied and was accepted for California highway patrol training. While a cadet in training, Rocky was diagnosed as having multiple sclerosis and was forced into disability retirement. Rocky then moved to Cleveland, Okla., where he had resided with his parents. Rocky was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed target shooting and was going to the Cleveland Police Target Range at the time of his death Tuesday, July 17, 2001, at the age of 43 years, four months and 11 days. He was also an avid licensed falconer. Rocky is survived by his parents, Jackie and Zoe Clark of the home; two sisters, Debra Lee Eckel of Garland and Ronda Renee Barnett of Lockhart; and a daughter, Rocksan Tai Clark of Las Vegas, Nev. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. today, July 20, 2001, at the Church of Christ Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Cleveland with Jeff Sellers and Mike Southward officiating. Born in Buffalo Gap, Clay was the son of Benjamin Dewitt Dillard and Ora Mae Travis Dillard. His parents preceded him in death, as did his wife, Alyce M. Dillard; a daughter, Neoma Jean; a brother, Frank Dillard; and a sister, Prescilla Hamblin. A Navy veteran of World War II, Mr. Dillard served in the Pacific aboard the USS President Hayes. He later was employed in the construction industry. Mr. Dillard is survived by his daughters, Carolyn F. Millner and husband Jack M. of Austin and Margaret Kay Graham and husband Howard Joe of Georgetown; his granddaughters, Daphne Cendejas, Deanna Graham and Donna Tabor; his great-grandsons, Logan Winn and A.J. Cendejas; his sister, Margaret Thompson of Abilene; and brothers, Dewitt Dillard and John Dillard, both of Highland, Calif. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and many friends. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. today, July 20, 2001, at the Abilene Municipal Cemetery in Abilene with his nephew, Wesley Wellborn, officiating. John Sewell officiating. Interment will follow in the Union Grove Cemetery in Troup, Texas. Mrs. McNamara passed away Wednesday afternoon July 18, 2001, at her home in Kilgore. Mrs. McNamara was born on July 8, 1932, in Cherokee County, Texas, to her parents Jamerson and Onitta Faye Kelley. She had lived in Kilgore since 1981. Mrs. McNamara was a school nurse for the Sabine Independent School District. She was a member of the Eastern Star. Mrs. McNamara was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Jefferson. Two sons Roy Eugene Day of Kilgore, Texas, and Michael Ray Day of Diana, Texas; two grandchildren Loren Amber Day and Jordan Erica Day, both of New Braunfels, Texas; two nieces; one nephew; and a host of other loving family and friends survive Mrs. McNamara. She was preceded in death by two husbands Roy Eugene Day, her husband of 43 years who passed away in 1994 and Bill McNamara who passed away in 1996. He spent many years in Odessa where he retired from Phillips Petroleum Co. in 1985 after 33 years of service. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 42 years, Betty Jean Shaffer. He married Dixie Evans in Zapata in 1991. He was born Oct. 4, 1942, in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico, to Cipriano and Guillerma Minjarez. He married Maria Elena Segovia in 1979 in Odessa. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cipriano and Guillerma Minjarez, and a grandchild, Aron Ulate. Survivors include his wife, Maria Elena Minjarez of Odessa; two sons, Francisco Minjarez and wife Maria of Odessa and Jose Manuel Hernandez of Odessa; seven daughters, Alma Salgado and husband Marion Jr. of Odessa, Maria de Jesus Minjarez of Odessa, Carol Minjarez and husband Joe Patino of Odessa, Maribel Ulate and husband Arturo of Odessa, Nina Rodriguez and husband Frank of Odessa, Magaly Segovia of Odessa and Adriana Vargas and husband Juan of Odessa; three brothers, Rodolpho Minjarez of Hamlin, Adan Minjarez of Pecos and Jesus Minjarez of Los Angeles; six sisters, Maria Rodriguez of Ojinaga, Josephina Hernandez of Odessa, Aurora Minjarez of El Paso, Alicia Estrada of Odessa, Socorro Minjarez of Sacramento, Calif., and Olga Sotelo of Odessa; 20 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
