July 25, 2001 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ Madge C. Allen ODESSA Madge C. Allen, age 84, of Odessa died Tuesday, July 24, 2001, at Seabury Nursing Center. She was born Jan. 28, 1917, in Leatherbark, W. Va., to Meade and Eva Clevenger. Mrs. Allen moved to Odessa in 1957. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her body was graciously donated by her to medical science. A private family service will be held at a later date. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Allen, in 1991. She is survived by her daughter, Betty Jo Haley of Midland; sons and daughters-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. George William Rice of Blythville, Ark., Donald Allen of Silver Spring, Md., and Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Allen of Montgomery, Ala.; daughters, Linda Chesshire, Carol Sonnier and Deborah Allen Moss of Odessa; brothers, Meade Clevenger of Burnyville, Ark., and John Burch of Lorraine, Ohio; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. (www.wilsonfuneral.com) _________________________________________________________________ Mary Louise Whitfield ODESSA Mary Louise Whitfield, 80, of Odessa passed away Sunday, July 22, 2001, at Midland Memorial Hospital and Medical Center. She was born Feb. 13, 1921, in Groesbeck. She was a member and very active at Parks Memorial Church of God in Christ. She was grandmother to all the neighborhood children. Mrs. Whitfield was preceded in death by three sons, Robert Lee Horton, Stanley Earl Chambers and Anthony Glen Butler. Survivors are sons, Bobby Gene Butler of Houston and Lawrence Dale Dancer of Odessa; daughters, Mary Offrell of Ferris, Rita Hudgins of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Nona Dancer of Midland; 14 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 26, 2001, at Parks Memorial Church of God in Christ with the Rev. W.C. Kenan officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.
