August 15, 2001 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ Peggy Lennie Mae Cook ODESSA Peggy Lennie Mae Cook, 78, quietly passed from this life and went home to be with her Lord Aug. 11, 2001. She was born Aug. 14, 1922, in Douglas and married Joseph Louis Cook Nov. 5, 1939, in Sebastian. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2001, at Tanglewood Church of Christ with Joe Cross and Roy Smalling officiating. Interment followed at Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Peggy was a dedicated Christian wife and mother who loved bringing people to Christ. In her early years, Peggy worked as a cashier for the Piggly Wiggly grocery store in Beaumont. She loved helping others in need. Peggy was an avid gardener who enjoyed raising vegetables and fruit and then canning it or giving it away to others. Even in the last years of her life, she planted trees and a garden. Peggy had friends all over the state of Texas and the United States. Her door was always open not only to family and friends, but to anyone in need. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Betty Rogers; her loving husband and best friend, Joseph Louis Cook; three brothers; and a sister. Left behind to cherish her memories are her four children, Ernest Cook and his wife Sue of Beaumont, Joe L. Cook and his wife Marsha of Odessa, Dwight Cook and his wife Debbie of Odessa and Judy Day and her husband Lynn of Austin; her sister, Dorothy Summa and her husband David of Harlingen; her brother, Edgar Rogers and his wife Ethel of Jasper; 10 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other extended family. Active pallbearers were Todd Cook, Lee Cook, Landon Cook, Peter Cook, Michael Mancias and Eric Steffens. Honorary pallbearers were Stan Weber, Don Miller and Bill Bowden. May her religious beliefs and good deeds remain in our lives always. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Odessa Christian School, Tanglewood Church of Christ or Victory Tree Childrens Home c/o Tanglewood Church of Christ. Hadden died Sunday, Aug. 12, 2001, at Midland Memorial Hospital and Medical Center. A visitation has been set from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, 2001, Ellis Funeral Home. Funeral services have been scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 17, 2001, at Ellis Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bob Hopkins officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home. Bill J. Hadden was born June 18, 1931, in Duchesne, Utah, to William J. and Janie Hadden. He served in the United States Armed Forces as a paratrooper instructor in the 82nd Airborne Division in Fort Benning, Ga. After his discharge from the Armed Forces, Bill worked for Mountain Bell Telephone in Wyoming and later for Southwestern Bell in Arizona. An avid horseman, Bill owned and operated Buckskin Bos Livery Stables in Glen Haven, Colo. After obtaining his masters electricians license, he became an electrical contractor, owning Big T Electric in Estes Park, Colo. In January 1975, he went to work for Parker Drilling Co. in the Rocky Mountain and Alaskan Divisions before transferring to ParTec in 1992. Bill traveled the world over designing electrical systems for SCR drilling rigs. After his retirement in 1996, he became an electrical consultant for Parker Drilling and ParTec once again, traveling to foreign countries until failing health ended his travels in 1999. Bill, or Mr. Bill, as he was called by all who knew him, was highly respected in the drilling industry the world over. He leaves behind a wide circle of friends, not only because of his work, but also because of the sport that he loved. Mr. Bill had been an avid bowler for years, bowling in leagues and tournaments across the U.S. He was loved and will be missed by many! With cherished memories, he is survived by his wife, Patricia A. Hadden of Midland; his daughter, Kristie Jo Hadden of Bentonville, Ark.; his sons, Wm. Scott Hedges and Brenda of Mesa, Ariz., Robert E. Hedges and his wife Debby of Boulder City, Nev., and Thomas A. Hedges and his wife Katya of Anchorage, Alaska; his five grandchildren, Ian, Tia, Seth, Emily and Juan; his sister, Marie Lugenbeel of Duchesne, Utah; his brothers, Rex Hadden and his wife Jennie of St. George, Utah, and Bernard Hadden and his wife Norma of Duchesne, Utah; many nieces and nephews; and his little canine companion, Cricket.
