August 17, 2001 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ Martha Gooden ODESSA Martha Gooden, 75, of Plano passed away Aug. 16, 2001. She was born April 12, 1926, in Bristow, Okla., to Edward and Theresa Smith. Martha had been a longtime resident of Odessa. She married Carl Gooden Jr. on July 24, 1947, in Borger. Her husband retired from Chevron. She had a bachelors degree in economics from Texas Tech in Lubbock. She was a member of Odessa Country Club and an avid golfer. She also enjoyed playing bridge with her friends. Her husband Carl preceded her in death in 1991. She is survived by her son, Carl Gooden of Odessa; daughter, Cheryl Miller of Plano; and grandchildren, Michelle and Eska Miller and Kelsi Gooden. Services are scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, 2001, at Sunset Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Jim Ray Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Services entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ Raynell Tate Mitchell ODESSA Raynell Mitchell, 62, of Odessa passed away Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. She was born Dec. 15, 1938, to Ed and Jane Tate in Young County. Funeral services have been scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, 2001, at the Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors Chapel with Duane Permenter officiating. Interment will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 19, 2001, in Olney. Mrs. Mitchell spent most of her early years in the Young County area of Texas where she graduated from Newcastle High School. She received her masters degree in elementary education from North Texas State University. While at North Texas State, she met her husband of 39 years, David J. Mitchell. The Mitchells moved to Andrews following college to begin their teaching careers in the public school system. They later moved to Odessa where they both taught for the Ector County Independent School District. Mrs. Mitchell retired in 1998. She was a member of University Street Church of Christ and was a devout Christian. She is survived by her husband, David of Odessa; sons, Chuck Mitchell and his wife Tracie of Garland and Jeff Mitchell and his wife Jessica of Odessa; her father, Ed Tate of Olney; sisters, Edwana Fikes of Olney and Joy Gramatsky of Hamilton; and a brother, Lonnie Tate of Huckabee. Raynelle was proud of her grandchildren, Reagan, Madison and Logan Mitchell, all of Garland, and was anticipating the birth of her fourth grandchild. Services entrusted to Frank W. He was born March 4, 1928, to Harold and Cordie Webb in Odessa. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, 2001, at University Park Baptist Church with the Rev. L.D. Green officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Mr. Webb graduated from Odessa High School in 1947. He married Jessie Tidwell on March 20, 1949. He had lived in Gardendale for 31 years and had worked for Texaco for 27 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Howard L. Webb; and a sister, Leata Riel. He is survived by his son, Larry Webb and wife Sherri of Odessa; his daughter, Cathy Childers and husband Ernest of Bedford; grandchildren, Cristy Childers, Trey Childers and Amy Childers, all of Bedford, Eric Webb, Jennifer Webb and Regan Webb, all of Odessa; and great-grandchildren, Kris Childers, Sierra Lynn Childers and Kaitlyn Anne Childers, all of Bedford.
