He was born Dec. 4, 1952, in Kingsville. He was a maintenance worker at HEB Grocery Store and a dedicated man of God. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2001, at First United Pentecostal Church with the Rev. Gabriel Chavez officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Wake will be held at 7:30 p.m. today at Martinez Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. today, Aug. 21, 2001, at Martinez Funeral Home Chapel. He was preceded in death by his father, Urbano Abelino Sr.; and brothers, Juan Abelino and Eugene Abelino. Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2001, at St. Josephs Catholic Church with the Rev. Gilbert Rodriguez officiating. Rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. today at Martinez Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery. Rodriguez, 55, of Odessa went to be with his Lord and Savior Sunday, Aug. 19, 2001, at his residence. Mr. Rodriguez was born Oct. 7, 1945, in Poteet. He married Lydia Salazar Dec. 8, 1962, in Pleasanton. They moved to Odessa in 1963 from San Antonio. He had worked 22 years as a lab technician for Southdown Inc. and was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. He was also an active member of the Odessa Basin Lions Club for 27 years and a board member for 10 years. His hobbies include organizing and running festival fund-raisers, his grandchildren, listening to music and enjoying the outdoors. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eluterio M. Rodriguez; a son, Larry Ronald Rodriguez; and a brother, Eddie Ray Rodriguez. He is survived by his wife, Lydia S. Rodriguez of Odessa; three daughters, LaDawn Jamierson and husband Clayton, LaKrisha Rodriguez and husband Randy and Lindsey Rodriguez, all of Odessa; four brothers, Johnny Joe Rodriguez of San Antonio, Ricky Rodriguez and Joe Robert Rodriguez, both of Odessa, and Ernest Rodriguez of Houston; two sisters, Esther Tovar of San Marcos and Vangie Santiago of Gilbert, Ariz.; and four grandchildren, Lacee and Justeen Jamierson, Alec and Cameron Rodriguez. She was born March 13, 1919, in Merkel. She married Ross Solomon March 25, 1950, in Portales, N.M. Mrs. Solomon moved to Odessa in 1963 from Hobbs, N.M. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. Mrs. Solomon was preceded in death by her son, Robert V. Skidmore in 1998; great-grandson, Steven Janes in 1997; great-granddaughter, Rhonda Randolph in 1982; three brothers; and two sisters. She is survived by her husband, Ross Solomon of Odessa; son, David Skidmore and wife Sharon of Marana, Ariz.; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Skidmore of Odessa; brother, Alvis A. Vancil of Abilene; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2001, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. He was born Oct. 29, 1926, in Pampa. Mr. Vanderburg moved to Odessa in 1942 from Pampa. He attended Odessa High School. He was a veteran of World War II. He was a retired motor electrician. He enjoyed playing music with family and friends and was a longtime volunteer of The Texans Band that provided music for local nursing homes. He was Baptist. He is survived by his wife, Elna of Odessa; son, Darwin Vanderburg of Odessa; daughters, Sherilyn Horning and husband John of Dover, Ohio, and Vicki Hebb and husband Lawson of Loganville, Ga.; three sisters, Hattie Wilson of Odessa, Retha Coleman of Gun Barrel City and Charline Cooper of Odessa; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2001, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Ernest Easley officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
