August 30, 2001 Permian Basin Obituaries Obituaries Index Frank Carbery ODESSA - Frank Carbery, 86, of Odessa passed away Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2001, at his residence after a lengthy illness. Frank was born Nov. 17, 1914, in Memphis, Tenn. He married Louise Smith on Nov. 28, 1942, in Hernando, Miss. They moved to Odessa in 1956. He was a plant and pipeline welder until 1979. Since that time, he has been co-owner of Carbery Fabrication Co. Inc. in Odessa. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene. He is survived by his wife, Louise Carbery of the home; son, Pete Carbery and wife Sandy of Odessa; daughter, Brenda Jarrett of Odessa; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, all of Odessa; and several special nieces and nephews. Family visitation will be from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Aug. 30, 2001, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31, 2001, at First Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Terry Pierce officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice. Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Katty Marie Graham AMARILLO - Because He lives, I can face tomorrow. Our beloved Katty Marie Graham left this earth to be with her Heavenly Father Aug. 27, 2001. She was born Jan. 25, 1961, in Odessa, attended Permian High School, San Marcos Academy and graduated with a nursing degree from Amarillo College in May 1994. Katty worked for a short period in the Amarillo area until she married Charles Malcom Graham of Andrews on Sept. 25 of the same year. The couple resided in Andrews and Odessa prior to moving back to Amarillo in February 2001 to be close to their family and loved ones. Katty was a devoted mother and adored her young daughters, Shannah and Charlie. She took great pride in her personal appearance and that of her girls and showed great concern for their well-being. She loved her home and having her stepdaughters at home for holidays and special family gatherings. Her husband Charles filled a great part of her heart and life. "She had a gentle touch" were the words he used to describe her. For those who knew and loved Katty, family was important. Katty was especially close to her grandmother, Bonnie Hutson, and loved doting over her. Times she spent with her brother Bo David and close friend Kelly Henley were priceless. She possessed a strong bond with her cousins. She had a beautiful heart and was precious to her mother and PaPa. Never to be forgotten, we will miss our Katty Marie, our "Charming Daughter." Katty leaves behind her loving husband, Charlie Graham; two cherished daughters, Shannah Marie George, age 12, and Charles Rhea "Charlie" Graham, age 4; two stepdaughters, Jamie and Katy Graham of Arlington; mother and dad, Patty and John Pool of Amarillo; father and stepmother, David and Judy Brown of Euless; brother, Bo David Brown and wife Amber of Lewisville; stepbrother, Reggie Pool and nephew Sean of Aptos, Calif.; stepsister, Sheri Weaver and husband Ken of Beaumont; maternal grandmother, Bonnie Hutson of Amarillo and J.L. Collier of Justine. In addition, she is survived by uncles, Kenneth, Mike and Rock Hutson and their spouses of Odessa, and with special fondness, her uncle Wayne Hutson of Amarillo, aunts, Mary Jane Simonton Wanda Cole, Uncle Gary Brown and numerous cousins. Katty was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, A.K. Hutson, and cousin, Michael Jordan Hutson. Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 31, 2001, at First Baptist Church of Amarillo officiated by Dr. Howard Batson of First Baptist Amarillo and the Rev. Bill Cook of Odessa. Pallbearers will be Larry Morris, Patrick Hutson, Ken Whayne Hutson, Kimbo Hutson, John Hutson and Claude Horton. The family will receive visitors at the Graham home and the Pool home. Memorials should be sent to the First Baptist Church Youth Ministry and Martha's Home. Joy Maxine Jordan ODESSA - Joy Jordan, 71, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2001, at Hospice House. Joy was born Nov. 14, 1929, near Rochester in Haskell County to T.M. Carnes and Blanche Shriver Carnes. She moved to Odessa in 1937. The first school she attended in Odessa was held in a church on North Grant Avenue. Joy worked in the restaurant business most of her life. Joy was preceded in death by her father, T.M. Carnes; brother, Billy Carnes; and an infant daughter. She is survived by her mother, Blanche Carnes of Odessa; daughter, Joylyn Ragland of Midland; son, Charlie Jordan of Houston; sister, Ruth Coskrey and husband Bill; sister-in-law, Jenny Carnes; grandson, Byron Jordan; granddaughters, Joy and Janah, who were the light of her life; and a special friend, Clint Burnett. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 31, 2001, at Sunset Memorial Gardens officiated by Brother Clydel Chapman of Northside Baptist Church. Services are entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Frankie Pringle McCAMEY - Frankie Pringle, 67, of Girvin died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2001, at the McCamey Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31, 2001, at the McCamey Church of Christ with Brother Royce Sartain officiating. Burial will follow at the Rankin Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home of McCamey. Mrs. Pringle was born July 7, 1934, in El Paso. She had lived in Girvin since 1984. She married Burl Pringle on Sept. 10, 1952, in Midland. She was a jailer for the Pecos County Sheriff's Department. She was preceded in death by a son, David Claude Pringle, in 1980. Survivors include her husband, Burl Pringle of Girvin; a son, Jeffery Pringle of Big Lake; a grandson, Bryan Pringle of Burkburnett; two great-grandsons; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Ruth Loveless Todd ODESSA - Ruth Loveless Todd went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2001, at 9:10 p.m. She was in prayer with her son Tom and daughter-in-law Connie at the time she went home. Ruth was born in 1911 in Hillsborough and had lived in Odessa since 1975. Ruth was a music teacher for many years and then worked with her husband and son in the land development business. She was an accomplished poet and songwriter, with a book of her poetry published in 1996. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Elmer Lee Todd, and son, David Neil Todd. In addition to her son, Tom, and daughter-in-law, Connie, Ruth is survived by grandchildren, Kyle Todd, Jennifer Todd, Dana Parker, Eric Todd, Robert Todd, Tammy Todd, Mike Todd, Mindy Gregg, Jeff Salter and Scott Salter, and 12 great-grandchildren. Ruth was an active member of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas and a local poetry society. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31, 2001, at Frank W. (www.wilsonfuneral.com) Coy B. Ward ODESSA - Coy Benson Ward, 86, of Odessa, owner of Ward Used Cars, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2001, at Hospice House of Odessa. Coy Ward was born Sept. 5, 1914, in Foard City, son of the late Joe Abner Ward and Esther Ward Lefevre of Crowell and grandson of the late Frank R. Lefevre, pioneer of Foard County. Coy was a member of the Christian Church, World War II Army Air Force veteran and business owner for 40 years in Odessa. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Aug. 30, 2001, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jimmy Braswell officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Daniel Vicars, Justin Russell, Stephen Hoback, Steven DiTuillio, Greg Bates and Bob Colon. Honorary pallbearers will be Curtis Lewellan, Bill Joiner, John Worley and Harmon Lee Rex. Coy Ward is survived by his wife, Yvonne Ward; his son, Coy Don Ward and daughter Dr. Linda Ward of Odessa; a brother, Donald J. Ward and wife Martha of Tulsa, Okla.; a sister, Melba Ward Holt and husband Layton of Arlington; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Dr. Jana Sanders of Albuquerque, N.M.
