September 09, 2001 Permian Basin Obituaries Obituaries Index Linda Young ODESSA - Linda Sharon Young quietly passed from this life and went to be with the Lord on Sept. 8, 2001, after battling with ovarian cancer since the mid-1970's. She was born July 2, 1948, in Las Vegas, Nev., to Howard and Cathern Hodges. Linda was a loving wife, daughter, and sister; a person who never met a stranger and never backed away from a problem. She would help anyone in need and would often say when sick in bed, "Don't come through my door unless you have a smile on your face." She loved to decorate the house. Her father, Howard H. Hodges, and father-in-law, Lewis B. Young preceded her in death. Left behind to cherish her memories and warm, sweet smile are her loving husband of 31 years who she married on Dec. 29, 1969 in Odessa, Perry Young; mother, Cathern Hodges; sister, Jean Bell; brother, Ricky H. Hodges and his wife, Janice; mother-in-law, Mildred Young; brother-in-law Jerry Young and his wife, Cindy, all of Odessa; sister-in-law, Betty Richards of Manford, Okla; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and two God-daughters. Graveside services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10, 2001, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. James Qualls officiating. Honorary pallbearers are Dewayne Greer, Bryan Richards, Randy Bell, David Bell and Benny Pendergrass. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Home Hospice and the Hospice House. Services are entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Elynor Pinnell ODESSA - Elynor Pinnell, 73, of Odessa passed away Friday, Sept. 7, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital. She was born in Stamford on March 9, 1928, to James and Marguerite Sparks and later married Ernest Pinnell in Lueders on Nov. 24, 1945. She was Methodist. She was a loving mother and helped many people when they were in need. She will be missed by all. She is survived by a son, David Pinnell of Kingwood; a daughter, Victoria Wheat and Husband Harold of Austin. She was active in local politics in the 1970's. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10, 2001, at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Door of Hope Mission. Services are entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Patsy Griffith ODESSA - Funeral services for Patsy Jean Griffith, 72, of Odessa are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 10, 2001, at First Assembly of God Church with Pastor Paul Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Pioneer Cemetery in Pioneer. She passed away Friday, Sept. 7, at Medical Center Hospital. She was born Aug. 6, 1929, in Smithfield to William Oliver and Nina Zuleka Wiley. She married Hershel R. Griffith on April 21, 1952, in Cross Plains. He and her son, Hershel Jr., preceded her in death. She was a registered nurse at Medical Center Hospital and was a member of the First Assembly of God Church. She is survived by two sons, Roger Griffith and wife Laura of Los Lunas, N.M., and David Griffith and wife Gloria of Rowlett; a daughter, Mary Brem and husband Earl of Odessa; two brothers, Donald Wiley and wife Pat and Herman Wiley and wife Peggy, all of Amarillo; four sisters, Muriel Davis and Husband Frank of Cross Plains, Wynetta Walker and husband Otho, Ruth Harris and husband Billy and Doris Dixon, all of Amarillo; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Services are entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Amada Molinar ODESSA - Amada Molinar, 58, of Odessa, a homemaker, passed away Saturday, Sept. 8, 2001, at Silverleaves Nursing Home in Garland. She was born May 1, 1943, in Ojinaga, Mexico, to Dionicia Martinez Porras and the late Daniel Porras. She married Jesus Molinar on Aug. 11, 1961. She was Christian. Services will be at 2 p.m. at Catedral-De-Alavanca with the Rev. Pedro Emiliano officiating. Interment will follow at the Ector County Cemetery. She was preceded in death by her father, Daniel Porras, and a son, Cosme Molinar. She is survived by three sons, Dario Molinar, Jessie Molinar and Carlos Molinar, all of Odessa; three daughters, Estella Martinez and Dora Almance, both of Odessa, and Sylvia Suchil of Lubbock; mother, Dionicia Martinez-Porras of Odessa; five brothers, Abelino Porras, and Oscar Porras, all of Ojinaga, Mexico, Ray Porras of Odessa and David Porras of Chihuahua, Mexico, and Juan Porras of Midland; and three sisters, Eva Porras of Colorado, Socorro Loya of Odessa and Francisca Porras of Ojinaga, Mexico.
