September 10, 2001 Permian Basin Obituaries Obituaries Index Linda Young ODESSA - Linda Sharon Young quietly passed from this life and went to be with the Lord on Sept. 8, 2001, after battling with ovarian cancer since the mid-1970s. She was born July 2, 1948, in Las Vegas, Nev., to Howard and Cathern Hodges. Linda was a loving wife, daughter, and sister; a person who never met a stranger and never backed away from a problem. She would help anyone in need and would often say when sick in bed, "Don't come through my door unless you have a smile on your face." She loved to decorate the house. Her father, Howard H. Hodges, and father-in-law, Lewis B. Young, preceded her in death. Left behind to cherish her memories and warm, sweet smile are her loving husband of 31 years whom she married on Dec. 29, 1969, in Odessa, Perry Young; mother, Cathern Hodges; sister, Jean Bell; brother, Ricky H. Hodges and his wife, Janice; mother-in-law, Mildred Young; brother-in-law Jerry Young and his wife, Cindy, all of Odessa; sister-in-law, Betty Richards of Manford, Okla; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and two God-daughters. Graveside services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10, 2001, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. James Qualls officiating. Honorary pallbearers are Dewayne Greer, Bryan Richards, Randy Bell, David Bell and Benny Pendergrass. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Home Hospice and the Hospice House.
