September 29, 2001 Permian Basin Obituaries Obituaries Index Sarah Jeanette Fleming ROTAN - Sarah Jeanette Fleming, 59, of Odessa passed away Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2001, at an Odessa hospital. Funeral services were at 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, 2001, at Weathersbee Funeral Home Chapel with Don M. Fleming officiating. Burial followed at Belvieu Cemetery under the direction of Weathersbee Funeral Home. Mrs. Fleming was born Aug. 5, 1942, in Rotan to the late Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Lightfoot. She worked at Sunshine Laundry in Odessa for many years. She married Bob Fleming on March 2, 1964, in Juarez, Mexico. She had lived in the Odessa area since 1964 and was a Baptist. She is survived by her husband, Bob Fleming of Odessa; a son, Tom Fleming and wife Kathy of Odessa; a daughter, Sarah and husband Darrell McPherson of Odessa; three grandchildren, Steven Fleming and wife Angela of Odessa, Jessica Savage of Odessa and Danielle McPherson of Odessa; a great-grandchild, Courtney Fleming of Odessa; a sister, Joy Parks of Robert Lee; a brother, Ben Ensminger of McCaulley; and two stepgrandchildren, Brandon and Laura. Allen Holloway ODESSA - Allen Holloway, 68, of Odessa passed away Friday, Sept. 28, 2001, at his residence. Mr. Holloway was born Dec. 18, 1932, in Imperial to Earl Hunter and Verna Hazel Holloway. Allen received a scholarship to attend Texas A&M until the Korean War caused him to leave school. He served in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War and received an honorable discharge from both. He married Tommie Jean West on Dec. 4, 1955, in Talpa. They moved to Odessa in 1956 from McCamey and he began working for Rodman Supply in 1956. He later worked as a ranch foreman for Bob French in Brackettville. In 1964, he began leasing his trucks to J.H. Rose Trucking Co. and drove all over the United States. He later worked for Lewie Montgomery Trucking Co. for 20 years and later Lone Star Transportation as a pipeline estimator. He was a faithful member of Temple Baptist Church and a member of the Masonic Lodge. He will be remembered as a friend, Dad and family man who never met a stranger. He enjoyed making people laugh and treated everyone equal. He always said, "What are friends good for if you can't use them?" He loved telling people about his Savior. He knew and loved his Lord and was secure in his faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Verna and Earl Holloway; his sister, Iris McNabb; and his brother, Jack Holloway. Survivors include his wife, Tommie Holloway of Odessa; three sons, Allen Earl Holloway Jr. and his wife Denny of Odessa, Mark Holloway and his wife Donna of Houston and Alton Holloway and his wife Lisa of Houston; a daughter, Joan Castillo and her husband Willie of Austin; four sisters, Verna Bickley, Mildred Reinertsen, Mary Lou Griffin and Lois Mullins; 18 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services are scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 30, 2001, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Griffin Jones and the Rev. Jack Watkins officiating. Military graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 1, 2001, at the Talpa Cemetery in Talpa under the direction of Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Honorary pallbearers will be Frank Johnson, Bill Ogle, Ellis Fulton, Bill Staggs, Charlie Harris, Glen Tucker, Warren Heagy, Gale Holliman and Mike Elfert. Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Lucille Carter Price ODESSA - Lucille Carter Price, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Thursday, Sept. 27, 2001, two days before her 96th birthday. She had resided in San Angelo since 1958. She was born in Sept. 29, 1905, in Coryell County to W.D. McAdams and Matilda Caroline Hollingsworth McAdams. She was preceded in her eternal journey with our Lord by a son, Jay William Carter, and husband, J.B. Carter. In 1952, Lucille Carter married Clark Price, who passed from this life in 1958. She worked a number of years at Baptist Memorials Center followed by several years with Shannon Dietary Department. Mrs. Price is survived by two daughters, Jo Ann Lindsey of Odessa and Mary Lou Wilson and husband Wm. C. Wilson of San Angelo, and two sons, Edson Carter of San Angelo and Jessie Price and wife Karan of Crane. Granddaughters are Lori Coleman, Anessa Price, Jessica Carter, Jennifer Carter and Tami Bennett. Grandsons are Jay Harvey Lindsey and wife Marcie, Charles Ray Lindsey and wife Mary, Gerald Ray Price, William Jay Wilson and wife Nancy, Paul Jay Carter and wife, Barry Price and wife, Dalton Carter and Miller Carter. Great-granddaughters are Stacy Linders, Traci Majors, Christal Price, Holly Price, Lori Coleman and Sandra Coleman. Great-grandsons are Jimmy Lindsey, Chris Lindsey, Kyle Ray Lindsey, Hunter Price, Lawrence Jay Wilson and Jeremy Raiborn Wilson. Great-great-grandchildren are Dakota, Christian, Regan, Chaulker, Heather, Cassie, Erica, Saundra, Matt and Maci. Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today, Sept. 29, 2001, at Ector County Cemetery with Elder Troy Barrington, pastor of the Primitive Baptist Church of Midland, officiating. Arrangements are by Johnson's Funeral Home of San Angelo.
