October 19, 2001 Permian Basin Obituaries Obituaries Index Jean Clemons ODESSA - Jean Clemons died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital. She was born Dec. 30, 1931, at Madison in Beaver County, Okla. She moved to Odessa on June 1, 1950, with her parents Vera and Jack Armstrong and her sister Marjorie. On June 6, 1953, Jean married Dan Clemons in Odessa. Jean and Dan lived in Monahans for many years before moving back to Odessa in 1974. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Vera and Jack Armstrong. She is survived by her husband, Dan Clemons of Odessa; daughter, Regina and her husband Jeffrey Barnes of Denton; son, Glen Clemons of Seminole; granddaughters, Jennie Clemons and Andrea Clemons of Georgetown; grandson, Michael Clemons of Seminole; sister, Marjorie Bradley of Odessa; aunt, Opal Nielsen of Odessa; aunt, Doris and her husband Laverne Davis of Balko, Okla.; uncle, Norman and his wife Margaret Criswell of Midland; uncle, Norval and wife Louise Criswell of Tennessee; uncle, Larry and wife Geraldine Criswell of Odessa; aunt, Sammie Criswell of El Paso; aunt, Edith Criswell of Scott City, Kan.; sister-in-law, Blanche and her husband Albert Yeilding of Odessa; sister-in-law, Gwen and her husband Jim Dotson of Midland; sister-in-law, Florence Clemons of Eugene, Ore.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation with the family will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Oct. 19, 2001, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 22, 2001, at Fairview Methodist Church in Beaver County, Okla., with burial at Madison Cemetery. Preciliano A. DeLaO ODESSA - Preciliano A. DeLaO passed away Wednesday night, Oct. 17, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital. He was born April 17, 1917, in Terlingua. He married Christina Sais on Sept. 6, 1940. He worked for the Texas Highway Department for 33 years. He was a Catholic and enjoyed life. His parents, Preciliano and Ignacia DeLaO, and his son, Israel "Roddy" preceded him in death. He is survived by his loving wife, Christina of 61 years; son, Abel DeLaO and wife Olivia; daughter, Hope and husband Frank Jacobo; daughter, Mary and husband Henry Rubio; and son, Ralph DeLaO and wife Rosa, all of Odessa; 12 grandchildren, Wilma McCoul, Monica Marr, Patricia Williams, Cindy DeLaO, Frank Jr. Jacobo, Joe Jacobo, Naomi Castellon, Sunny Castellon, Israel DeLaO, Jeremy DeLaO, Vanessa DeLaO and Aaron DeLaO; and five great-grandchildren. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, 2001, at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Frances Frey officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors. (www.wilsonfuneral.com) Nell Fanning ODESSA - Nell Fanning, 78, of Odessa died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital. She was born Dec. 14, 1922, in Fillmore, Utah. She had lived in Odessa for almost 50 years working as a medical secretary before becoming a secretary to her husband, Hal, in his insurance business. Nell retired in 1986 and with her husband traveled extensively in the U.S., Europe, the Baltic and the Mediterranean. Nell was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served many years as Primary and Relief Society President. She was instrumental in raising funds for the first chapel in Odessa. Nell raised her family of four in Odessa, watching with great pleasure as they grew to adulthood, married and brought to Nell 18 grandchildren. From these 18, she has 35 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. Her family was the center of her life always and their welfare of utmost importance. She was preceded in death by a son, Craige Pitt; two brothers; and a sister. She is survived by her husband, Hal; sister, Murel Sipple of Salt Lake City; sister, Laurel Collings of Magna, Utah; daughter, Coye Whetstone of Wichita, Kan.; daughter, Laurel Vore (Steve) of Odessa; daughter, Wendy Linde of Arlington; and son, Alan Pitt (Aileen) of Odessa. There will be a viewing from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. today, Oct. 19, 2001, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel. There will also be a viewing from 3:15 p.m. to 3:40 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, 2001, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 2011 N. Frankie 'Suzie' Hall ODESSA - Frankie "Suzie" Hall, 65, of Odessa went to be with the Lord Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2001, after a short illness. Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. today, Oct. 19, 2001, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Rick Alkire officiating. Interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be James Baker, Lucas Bedrick, Chris Hodge and Danny Hockett. She was born Sept. 13, 1936, in Hodge, La. She married Buddy Hall in Odessa in 1975. He preceded her in death in May 1977. She was also preceded in death by her parents. She served as president of Theta Rho and was also a member of Monahans Rebekah Lodge No. 27. She was a graduate of Aladdin Beauty College. She enjoyed singing in church and also used this talent in many beauty pageants. Her favorite pastime was working as a seamstress and crocheting. She is survived by daughter, Debbie Horrell of Odessa; two sons, Donald Baker and wife LaVona and Darren Baker and wife Doris, all of Odessa; sister, Betty Sue Sellars of Coleman; six grandchildren, James Baker and wife Angela, Tanya Bedrick and husband Luke, Danny Hockett and wife Dee Dee, Glenda Holley and Cory Horrell, all of Odessa, and Amy Hodge and husband Chris of Midland; and six great-grandchildren. Deborah Clydene White was born March 19, 1951, in Midland. She was an independent consultant in the advertisement industry. Deborah was preceded in death by her father, Radford C. Thomson in 1994. She is survived by her mother, Grace Marie Olliff-Thomson of Santa Anna, Calif.; her sons, Marshall Todd Cooper and his wife Jennifer of Boca Raton, Fla., Paul Linton Cooper of Atlanta, Ga., and Austin Michael Yengst of Boca Raton, Fla.; her brother, Bill Thomson of Orange, Calif.; and other relatives, Clyde Davis Wright, Gary Cooper, Michael Yengst, Donald Meshirer and Andrew White. John Hollowell ODESSA - Joe L. Hollowell, age 78, of Odessa died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2001, at his residence. He was born Oct. 27, 1922, in Nolan County. Mr. Hollowell was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the 44th Division during World War II. He came to Odessa in 1960 from Nolan County. He worked for Sage Energy for 20 years. At Mr. Hollowell's request, he will be cremated so there will be no viewing or services. He is survived by his wife, Pauline Hollowell, a son, Audie Hollowell; and granddaughters, Tamera and Shelby Hollowell, all of Odessa. Services have been entrusted to Frank W.
