October 30, 2001 Permian Basin Obituaries Obituaries Index Jefferson Mark Hamilton ODESSA - Mr. Jefferson Mark Hamilton, "Pops," passed away Oct. 27, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital. He was 82 years old. Jefferson was born Sept. 1, 1919, to Millard C. "Cap" and Mary Magdalene Holt Hamilton in Plainview, along with two brothers and six sisters. Mr. Hamilton later met and married his beloved wife Pearl Alice McDaniel on Oct. 24, 1939, and this marriage produced three sons and three daughters. Mr. Hamilton was a driver for Lewie Montgomery Trucking Co. until his retirement. He enjoyed fishing and spending quality time with his faithful companion, "Bo," and was an avid reader. Survivors include eldest son, Johny Mac and wife Janell of Cheyenne, Wyo.; daughter, Cathy JoAnn and husband John Shafer of Westville, Okla.; sons, Jefferson Doyle of Odessa and Sheldon Mark "Buzz" of Pleasanton; youngest daughter, Janice Kay and husband Jeff Jones of Los Lunas, N.M.; daughter-in-law, Paula Hamilton of Odessa; sisters, Callie Manning and husband Al of Houston and June Stacker Hudnall and husband Bob of Odessa; sister-in-law, LaVern Hamilton of Odessa; brother-in-law, Willie and Nita McDaniel of Big Spring and sister-in-law, Tressie Goolsby of Brownwood; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends and a faithful companion, "Bo." Mr. Hamilton was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Pearl; an infant daughter, Alice Pearl; both parents; two brothers, George and Kenneth; and four sisters, Elsie "Sue Belle" Weaver, Elnor Hamilton, Carmelita "Kitty" Stoner and Dorthy Ashley. Services for Mr. Hamilton will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2001, at the Salvation Army Church, 810 E. 11th St., in Odessa. Visitation will be prior to the services from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Interment will be at Ector County Cemetery. The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Salvation Army, 810 E. 11th St., in Odessa, in honor of Jefferson and Pearl Hamilton. Funeral arrangements made by Jackie Warren Funeral Home of Midland. Pinkie Lillian Hargrove ODESSA - Pinkie Lillian Hargrove, 88, of Odessa died Sunday, Oct. 28, 2001, at Deerings Nursing Home. She was born Oct. 25, 1913, in Belcherville to John and Delia Case. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Oct. 30, 2001, in the chapel of Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors with Jeff Trahan officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Hargrove married Homer Hargrove on June 2, 1932, in Oklahoma. They came to Odessa 27 years ago from Tucumcari, N.M. She was a member of the Church of Christ and was owner of Hargrove Jewelers for 15 years. She is survived by her daughter, Glenda Bowman and husband Jay of Odessa; sister, Devota Martin of Clovis, N.M.; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Mitchell, 54, of Odessa passed away Saturday, Oct. 27, 2001, at his residence. He was born Aug. 20, 1947, in Red Level, Ala. He worked in the oilfield. He is survived by his wife, Janet Mitchell of Odessa; son, Jackie Charles Mitchell of Odessa; four daughters, Billie Petty of Odessa, Heather Johnson of Lewisville, Idaho, Amanda Mitchell of Odessa and Shelia Mitchell of Iowa; three sisters, Betty Mitchell of New Mexico, Geraldine Wright and Jennett Henderson, both of Odessa; and three grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2001, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Willie Fikes officiating. Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
