Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, 2001, at the Colorado City Cemetery in Colorado City with the Rev. Jim Law officiating. A family visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Pipkin Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the direction of Pipkin Funeral Home and Chapel. Glen was born April 9, 1931, in Colorado City to Lester and Willie Lindsey Durham. He was a self-employed welder and had worked for J&J Steel Co. in Odessa, Sewell Ford, A&A Welders and also was the owner of Industrial Weed and Chemical. He served in the United States Navy in the 1950s. Glen was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Loretta Wilcox; and brother, Charles Rayburn. Glen is survived by Carma Lee Durham of Midland; a special best friend, Wanda Durham; two sons, Mark Durham of Midland and Ricky Harvey of Greenville; six daughters, Pat Conner of Odessa, Pam Mays of Mahomet, Ill., Stacey Larsen of Riverton, Wyo., Pam Mercer of Midland, Teresa Moore of Midland and Debbie Lacey of Odessa; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be Charlie Garrett, Phil Stroud, Wayne Coon, Mike Denney and Bobby Howard. God saw that he was getting tired, And a cure was not to be. So He put His arms around him, And whispered, "Come with Me." With tearful eyes We watched him suffer, And watched him fade away. Although we loved him dearly, We could not make him stay. His golden heart stopped beating His hard working hands to rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best. Murl Wynn Feemster LAKE KIOWA - Services for Murl Wynn Feemster, 66, of Lake Kiowa, who died Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2001, at his residence, will be held at 10 a.m. today, Nov. 15, 2001, at Geo. J. Carroll and Son Funeral Home Chapel in Gainesville with the Rev. Lou Brown officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 16, 2001, at Johnson Memorial Cemetery in Munday. Arrangements are by Geo. J. Carroll and Son Funeral Home. He was born Oct. 11, 1935, in Vera to Mr. and Mrs. Robert Feemster. He married Betty J. McNeill Nov. 8, 1956, in Munday. Murl was a beloved son, husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by all who knew him. He was raised in Vera and graduated from Vera High School in 1955. He played football, baseball and basketball and ran track. He went to state in track during his high school years. After graduation, he went to California and was employed as a civil service employee at McClellan Air Force Base. He returned to Texas in 1956 and worked at Shepard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls. In 1965, he transferred to the Army Corps of Engineers in Galveston. He was transferred to the Southwest Division office in Dallas in 1974. He retired from the Army Corps of Engineers Nov. 30, 1990. He served in the U.S. Army from March 1957 to March 1959. He was in the military police, serving 13 months in Korea. Murl was an active supporter of youth baseball for many years and served as an officer in many youth organizations. Following his retirement, Murl was a bus driver for Plano Independent School District until 1996, when he moved to Lake Kiowa. His favorite activities were fishing and traveling with Betty and their grandchildren in their motor home. He was of the Baptist faith and attended Lake Kiowa Chapel. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Feemster, and his parents-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Earl McNeill. He is survived by his wife, Betty J. Feemster of Lake Kiowa; son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and DiAnna Feemster of Missouri City; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Donald Babcock of Coppell; grandchildren, Rachel and Sarah DeGarmo of Coppell and Jacob "Jake" and Christina Feemster of Missouri City; brother and sister-in-law, Gerald and Marilyn Feemster of Odessa; sisters and brothers-in-law, June and Ernest Seigler of Blue Grove and Janice and Leonard Edrington of St. Joseph, Mo.; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Bob and Marie French of Livingston and Alice and Jimmy McDaniel of Wichita Falls. The family will be at McCauley-Smith Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. today. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lake Kiowa Volunteer Fire Department or the American Cancer Society. Paula Anna Goodwin ODESSA - Paula Anna Goodwin, 87, of Odessa passed away Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2001, at the Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Hospital. She was born March 18, 1914, in Nowata, Okla. Mrs. Goodwin was a homemaker and a member of Second Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Aaron "Goodie" Goodwin in 1970, and a daughter, Marilyn Steding in 1985. She is survived by four sons, Bill Goodwin and wife Wilma of Yukon, Okla., Joe Goodwin and wife Phyllis of Amarillo, Jerry Goodwin of Odessa and Ronnie Goodwin and wife Sharon of San Angelo; daughter, Judy Reid and husband Roger of Houston; 11 grandchildren, Brent Goodwin of Liberal, Kan., Sue Anderson of El Paso, Lisa Flechenstin and Brad Goodwin, both of Dallas, Kristi Hass of Hollywood, Calif., Bret Goodwin, Julie Goodwin and Kaylene Hindman, all of Austin, Scott Reid and Tisha Reid, both of Houston, and Kim Sims of Georgetown; and seven great-grandchildren. Curtis ODESSA - Lindell M. Curtis, 63, of Odessa passed away Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital. Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 16, 2001, at Sunset Memorial Chapel with Don Palmer of Life Unlimited Church officiating. Burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Lindell was born to Clarence and Etta Argo July 31, 1938, in Crossville, Ill. She married Robert Eugene Curtis on May 10, 1958, in Crossville. They moved to Odessa in 1982 from Mount Carmel, Ill. Her mother and father, three sisters and a brother preceded her in death. Survivors include her loving husband, Robert E. Curtis of Odessa; son, Patrick L. Curtis of Belmont, Ill; daughters, Roberta Vasquez, Beth Thomas and Virginia Cuellar, all of Odessa; brothers, Clarence Argo of Crossville, Ill., and Windell Argo of Clarksville, Tenn.; sisters, Ruby York of Carmi, Ill., Jean Brooks of Springfield, Ill., Betty Garrett of Alabama and Marrietta Hutcheson of Geff, Ill.; nine grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. The family requests memorials to the Battered Women's and Children's Shelter. Services entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Lula B. Kirkland Smith ODESSA - Lula B. Kirkland Smith, formerly of Odessa, passed from this life to eternal peace with her Lord Nov. 13, 2001, at the home of her daughter in Longview. She was born Oct. 23, 1909, in Glen Rose to James Monroe and Maud Sirmon Kirkland. She was married March 3, 1929, to Robert A. Smith who preceded her in death March 9, 1973. She was always a wonderful homemaker taking care of her family. She was proud to be a member of the Old Three Hundred Club as a descendent from Stephen F. Austin's first colony of settlers in Texas. She loved her God and Savior, Jesus Christ, and she was a member of Mobberly Baptist Church. Mrs. Smith is survived by her children and their spouses, James R. and Rosemary Smith of Chaparral, N.M., and Barbara and Tom Patterson of Longview. She is survived by five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, Scott and Jennifer Smith, Keaton, Collin, and Haley of Kerrville, Jamie Smith and Tyler of Chaparral, N.M., Chad and Donna Smith of Yuma, Ariz., Holly and Scott Forbes, Abby and Bonnie of Longview and Kristy and Greg Bonner, Austin and Cody of Coppell. The celebration of her life will be graveside at 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, 2001, at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa.
