She was born Oct. 30, 1911, in Mills County to Little Frank and Anna Soules. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, 2001, in the chapel of Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors with the Revs. James Otterness and Preston Weatherly officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. She came to Odessa from Lampasas in 1956. She married Wade "Hoover" Hodges on Dec. 6, 1932, in Mills County. He preceded her in death in 1982. She was Baptist by faith. Mrs. Hodges is survived by a son, Wade Hodges and his wife Francene of Odessa; two daughters, Peggy Hodges Webb and her husband Lee Roy of Mansfield and Mary Weaver and her husband James of Odessa; a brother, Johnny Soules and his wife Florene of San Angelo; two sisters, Evelyn Kinchloe and her husband Rowland of Benbrook and Christine Boyken of Midlothian; a sister-in-law, Ruby Mae Soules of Coosada, Ala.; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Services have been entrusted to Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors. (www.wilsonfuneral.com) Elbert Rhodes ODESSA - Elbert S. "Pete" Rhodes, 75, of Odessa passed away Sunday, Nov. 25, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital. He was born July 29, 1926, to Elbert and Fannie Rhodes in Megargel. Elbert married Minnie Jones on Sept. 4, 1953, in Texarkana. They moved to Odessa that same year. He enjoyed playing cards and fishing. His mother and father; a brother, J.F. Rhodes; a sister, Violet Layton; and a grandson, Jason Garner preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Minnie Rhodes of Odessa; sons, Donald Rhodes and wife Mandy of Odessa and James Garner and wife Linda of Santa Fe; daughter, Janet Davis of Odessa; grandson, Dustin Rhodes; and numerous nephews and cousins. Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2001, at Sunset Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Kevin Bushart of St. Luke's United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will be receiving visitors from 6 to 7:30 p.m. today at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. The family has requested memorials to the American Lung Association. Services are under the direction of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Norman M. Taylor ODESSA - Norman M. Taylor, 83, of Odessa passed away Sunday, Nov. 25, 2001, at Seabury Nursing Home. He was born July 5, 1918, in Carbon. He married Jewel Justice on Sept. 25, 1939, in Eastland. Mr. Taylor moved to Odessa in 1952. He was a World War II Navy veteran. He was stationed in Pearl Harbor. He was drilling foreman for Skelly Oil Co. in Odessa. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by granddaughter, Nikki Michele Burns; brothers, Powell and Thurman Taylor; and sisters, Pauline Skinner and Clorene Foster. He is survived by his wife, Jewel Taylor of Odessa; three daughters, Barbara Burns and husband Bobby, Judy Joiner and Norma White and husband Ronnie, all of Odessa; six grandchildren, Lisa and John Covington, Norman Burns, Judy Ann and Mike Lumkin, Kayla Joiner, Jeannie and Tim Easley and Jennifer White; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. today, Nov. 27, 2001, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Ronnie Newton officiating. Raymond Bryant ODESSA - Raymond Bryant, 90, of Odessa passed away Sunday, Nov. 25, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital. He was born Feb. 28, 1911, in Bell County, Ky. He married Janey Kivette on Sept. 18, 1937, in Bristol, Tenn. Mr. Bryant worked for the Bristol Steel and Iron Works before coming to Odessa in 1951. He retired in 1982 from Downs and Clark after 26 years of service. He was a member of Belmont Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, caring father and devoted grandfather. He was preceded in death by son, Ray "Doug" Bryant. He is survived by his wife, Janey Bryant of Odessa; son, Rudy Bryant of Midland; three daughters, Revonda Ikeler and Reta Russell, both of Odessa, and Rowan Halfacre of The Woodlands; son-in-law, Ronnie Ikeler and daughter-in-law, Donna Carr of Odessa; two brothers, Mel Bryant of De Land, Fla., and Earl Bryant of Acworth, Ga.; two sisters, Minnie Lee Beeler of Bristol, Tenn., and Juanita Johnson of Abingdon, Va.; 11 grandchildren, Wayne Russell, Vaughn Halfacre, Ronnie Ikeler, Mysti O'Dell, Jeff Russell, Connie Davis, Sonja Chavez, Leslie Bryant, Christie Wolfe, David Bryant and Lisa Bryant; and 19 great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Nov. 27, 2001, at Belmont Baptist Church with the Rev. Kerry Peacock officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
