Permian Basin Obituaries ============================================================================================ December 02, 2001 Permian Basin Obituaries Obituaries Index Ernest Martin Conners ODESSA - Ernest M. Conners, 65, passed away Saturday, December 1, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa. He was born April 23, 1946, in Marfa, to John F. and Francis Conners. Ernest was in the U.S. Army and served his country in the Vietnam War. He married his wife, Carmen Carrasco, on February 14, 1978, in Marfa, and moved to Odessa from Ft. Stockton that same year. Mr. Conners was employed with Medco for 17 years, then for Flint for several years before his illness. He was also a member of the VFW Post 4372 Honor Guard, and received many safety awards. Rosary is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Monday evening, December 3, 2001, at Sunset Memorial Chapel. Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 4, 2001, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Father Laugo officiating. Burial will follow in Ector County Cemetery. His parents, John F. Conners, and Francis Mellion Conners, and one brother, Mike Steven Conners, precede him in death. Survivors include his wife, Carmen Conners; son, Steven Ray Conners, both of Odessa; brothers, John C. Conners, Lawrence Patrick Conners, both of Marfa; Edward F. Conners, and James F. Conners, both of El Paso; sisters, Francis Garcia of Marfa, and Dorothy Isabel Conners of Odessa. Services are entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Letha Hollis MIDLAND - Letha Hollis, 86, passed away in Fairfax, Va., on Nov. 30, 2001 after prolonged respiratory illness. Born July 28, 1915, in Clairemont, Texas, she came with her parents, Bill and Prudy Chaffin to Crane at an early age and attended Crane High school. She had three brothers, Joe, Ed and Jack. In July 1935, she married T.J. "Jimmy" Hollis, who was active in the oil business most of his life throughout the Permian Basin. She was regarded by all that knew her as a wonderfully sweet and kind person and a caring mother. Letha lived various periods of time in Crane, Big Lake, Snyder, Lovington, Hobbs and for the last 35 years, in Midland. She is survived by son, Allan Hollis of McLean, Va., granddaughters Spring Hollis of New York City and granddaughter Emily Anderson and great-granddaughter Laine of Burke, Va., all of whom loved her very much. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 5 at 2 p.m. in Crane at the chapel of the Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home, presided over by the Rev. Steve Baker of the Crane First Baptist Church.
