"Jimmy" Meador, 63, of Odessa, passed away Saturday, December 1, 2001. He was born January 21, 1938, in Mineral Wells, Texas, to James Roy and Magdalene Meador. Graveside services are scheduled for 11 a.m., Tuesday, December 4, 2001, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Father Jim Bridges officiating. Jim married Susie Friel on April 11, 1970, in Derry, Ireland. Jim spent 21 years in the Navy, including three tours in Vietnam. After retiring from the Navy, Jim and Susie moved back to West Texas and resided in Odessa. "What he suffered he told but few, he did not deserve what he went through, Tired and weary he made no fuss, but tried so hard to stay with us. As we look upon his picture, sweet memories we recall, of a face so full of sunshine, and a smile for one and all. So rest in peace, dear loved one, and thanks for all you have done. We pray that God has given you, the crown you have truly won." Survivors include his wife, Susie Meador of Odessa; sons, Mark Meador of Three Rivers and Rob Meador of Odessa; daughter, Kelli Meador of Hayward, CA; daughter-in-law, Donna Meador of Odessa, three grandsons, Chris, Brian, and Kevin Meador of Odessa; two granddaughters, Kelli and Krista of Lake Geneva, WI. Services are entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Vivian Young-Smith ODESSA - Vivian Lee Young-Smith, 54, of Odessa, a parts manager, died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. today at Martinez Funeral Home. She was born in Weatherford. Survivors include her husband, Robert (Skip) Smith of El Paso; son, Robert Smith of Odessa; daughters, Heather Norman and Lisa Smith, both of Odessa; mother, Mildred Bridwell; sister, Carol Baker of Odessa and eight grandchildren. Services are entrusted to Martinez Funeral Home. Etta 'Granny' Potts COLORADO CITY - The funeral for Etta "Granny" Potts, 93, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, 2001, at the Hennessey Church of Christ officiated by Lanny Jobe. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Dec. 4, 2001, at Colorado City. Arrangements are by Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home. Etta was born in Venus, Texas on March 1, 1908 to Frank and Martha Elizabeth Stubblefield McBride and died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2001, at Integris Bass Baptist Medical Center in Enid. She married Carl Scott Battles, William M. "Bill" Milliorn; and Otis Potts, all of which preceded her in death. Etta earned her Licensed Vocational Nurse degree from Odessa College. She retired from Medical Center Hospital. She lived in Odessa from 1953 until she moved to Hennessey approximately five years ago. She was a member of the LVN association, the Baptist Church and attended the Church of Christ in Hennessey. She is survived by one daughter, Marie and husband, Bob Scott of Odessa and Gardendale; a special niece, Marlene Morris of Odessa; two grandchildren, James Scott Norman of Odessa, Janice and husband Will Waldrop of Hennessey; eight great-grandchildren, Tonya Lyn Norman, James Daniel Norman, Lauri Petrolia, Lisa Adkins, Donna Waldrop, Kenny Waldrop, Kayla Waldrop, Justin Waldrop; five great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Her three husbands; one infant son; six sisters and one brother preceded Etta in death.
