Hill ODESSA - Nina B. Hill, 97, of Odessa passed away Monday, Dec. 10, 2001, at Parks Methodist Retirement Village. She was born July 31, 1904, in Silver City, N.M., before it became a state. Her parents were William and Nina Turner St. Clair. Upon the death of her mother in 1915, she and her sister Adela moved to Martindale to be reared by their Aunt and Uncle Clara and Duke Horton. After graduating from Mary Hardin Baylor College, Nina B. took her first teaching position in Sonora, where she met and married Reece C. "Red" Hill. They made their home in Sonora. Later, they moved back to Martindale to help her aunt and uncle with their dairy and farm. This farm remained her home until she moved to Odessa in 1992. When her three children were old enough to go to school, Nina B. started teaching again. In 1951, she completed her master of arts degree. She taught in Sonora, Martindale, Luling and San Marcos for 39 years. Nina B. lived a very full and interesting life, traveling with her sister to Europe, Hawaii and North America. They visited relatives all over the United States. After she had grandchildren, she remained very involved in their lives, having them spend parts of their vacations on the farm and taking them on trips with her. In Odessa, she lived at Lincoln Towers, Sherwood Place and Parks Methodist Retirement Village. She was a member of Sherwood Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, R.C. "Red" Hill; son, Charles Duncan Hill; and sister, Adela St. Clair Weaver. She is survived by her daughters, Pat Kempe and husband Bill and Madge Terhune and husband Gene; nine grandchildren, Bob Terhune, Roy Terhune, Don Terhune, Amy Terhune Norris, Kathi Kempe Grist, Paul Kempe, Dana Hill Sharpe, Deborah Hill and Charles Duncan; 23 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. As she was honored and loved in life, so will she be remembered in death. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. today, Dec. 12, 2001, at Humphreys Cemetery in Martindale. Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. A.J. Talley ODESSA - A.J. Talley, 61, a lifelong resident of Odessa, passed away Monday, Dec. 10, 2001, at his residence in Odessa. He was born March 13, 1940, in Elk City, Okla., to Albert and Vida Talley. A.J. graduated from Odessa High School. He married Reita Lewis on Sept. 26, 1975. He worked in sales for Cummins for 18 years, and then he worked for Burns Security as a lieutenant at Huntsman Corp. He was a member of Faith Temple and Temple Baptist Church. His mother and father; stepfather, Curly Dad Bryant; and two sisters, Edith and Vivian preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Reita Talley of Odessa; son, Albert Talley and wife Sherry of Palestine; son, Donny Kyker and wife Laura of Odessa; daughters, Cindy Cox and Carolyn Rogers and husband Robert of Odessa; brother, Roger Talley and wife Carol of North Richland Hills; half brother, Bobby Loeffler of Seminole; half sisters, Violet Lyons and Betty Roach of Hobbs, N.M.; grandchildren, Landon Kyker, Heath Kyker, Haley Kyker, Annika Talley, Dalton Talley, Heather Cox and Josh Talley; a great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews. Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, 2001, at Sunset Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Griff Jones officiating, assisted by the Revs. Ned Smith and Charles Turner. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family requests memorials to Community Care Hospice. Services are under the direction of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Kessler E. Wood Sr. ODESSA - Kessler E. Wood Sr., 86, of Odessa passed away Monday, Dec. 10, 2001, at his home. He was born Oct. 19, 1915, in Edmond, Okla. Mr. Wood married Lucille on May 26, 1937, in Ada, Okla. They came to Odessa in 1954. He was in the Civilian Conservation Corps for some time after he graduated from Edmond High School. He owned Eighth and Grandview Phillips 66 for 10 years. He worked and traveled overseas with Santa Fe Drilling Co. and with Gulf Oil Co. He enjoyed being with his family, woodworking and working in his yard. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. His first wife Lucille and second wife Jane; a son, George "Buddy" Wood; and a brother, Leonard Wood preceded him in death. Pallbearers will be Harold Geisler, Carl Moore, David Moore, Matt Rowell, Kenny Hutson and Jody McQueen. Survivors include his daughter, Patricia Stuart and husband Thomas of Odessa; sons, Kessler Wood Jr. of Galveston, Donald Wood and wife Janice of Midland and John Wood and wife Brandy of Odessa; half brothers, Jack and Phillip Wood of Paradise, Calif.; grandchildren, Trina Pounds, Cherie Trowler, David Moore, Carl Moore, Jason Wood, Leslie Campbell, Lindy Rowell, Kristin Wood, Janyth Hutson, Rebel Talbot, Brad Hetzler and Ashley Wood; and 14 great-grandchildren. Graveside services are scheduled for 3 p.m. today, Dec. 12, 2001, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Chaplain Raymond Bugg of Community Care Hospice officiating.
