Permian Basin Obituaries ============================================================================================ December 23, 2001 Permian Basin Obituaries Obituaries Index Art Burk ODESSA - Art Burk, 72, of Odessa passed away Friday, Dec. 21, 2001, at his home in Odessa. He was born Sept. 15, 1929, in Enid, Okla. He attended Enid schools and graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in business marketing. He served in the Air Force in Korea as a first lieutenant. He and Coleen Williams were married in Oklahoma City in 1950. They moved to Odessa in 1954. He retired from Southland Corp. after a career in convenience store management. He was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Orville and Sue Burk, and two brothers, Chester and Wayne Burk. Survivors include his wife, Coleen; sons, Jeff Burk and Andy Burk and wife Lee Ann of Odessa; and five grandchildren, Nia Moore, Henry, William, Austin and Ellen Burk. Services are scheduled for 3 p.m. today, Dec. 22, 2001, at Sunset Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Kevin Bushart officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family has requested memorials be made to St. Luke's United Methodist Church. Alpha R. Hogan ODESSA - Alpha R. Hogan, 88, of Odessa passed away Friday, Dec. 21, 2001, at Hospice House in Odessa. She was born April 4, 1913, in Bristow, Okla., to Gordon and Laura Henderson. She married William L. Hogan in 1933. They moved to Odessa in 1949. She loved crocheting, baking cakes and sewing. She was a member of Bible Freewill Baptist Church. Her husband, William in 1982, and a son, RD Hogan in 1997, preceded her in death. She is survived by a son, Bill Hogan and wife Anne of Odessa; daughter, Reta Lowell of Odessa; daughter in law, Jodee Hogan; brother, Willard Henderson of Youngtown, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 23, 2001, at Sunset Memorial Chapel with the Revs. James Qualls and Jimmy Braswell officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Services are under the direction of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Buell Chester "B.C." Stone ODESSA - Buell Chester "B.C." Stone, a World War II veteran, died Thursday, Dec. 20, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital. He was born May 8, 1922, in Pharoah, Okla., to Bula and Chester Stone. He married Chris Lee in 1947. He retired from Mapp Tank Co. in 1984. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Trisha Thompson; sister, Inez Tyler; brother, Clyde Stone; nephew, Rodney Tyler; and great-niece, Heather Davis. He is survived by his wife, Chris Stone of Odessa; son, Stephen Stone of Tulsa, Okla.; daughter, Nicki Brumley of Odessa; sisters, Mabel Beaty and Bula Christmas, both of Marshall, and June White of Longview; grandchildren, Lana Wheeler, Torie Smith, Tina Polson, Gary Brumley, Kelly Ellis, Wendy Huntley and Chelsea Stone; great-grandchildren, Zackery, Zayne and Danielle Smith, Bailey Martinez, Channing Williams and Justice Brumley; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Gary Brumley, Gary Holloway, Paul Brumley, Eric Polson, Fabian Aranda and Joe Jones. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. today, Dec. 22, 2001, at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
