Permian Basin Obituaries ============================================================================================ December 27, 2001 Permian Basin Obituaries Obituaries Index Fran Duggan AMARILLO - Funeral services for Fran Duggan, age 57, will be held at 3 p.m. today, Dec. 27, 2001, at Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories. Mr. Sam Line, minister of Vega Church of Christ, will officiate. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Memorial Park Funeral Home. She passed away Monday, Dec. 24, 2001, in Amarillo. Fran was born April 20, 1944, in Odessa. She attended school and graduated from Permian High School. She also attended Amarillo College. Fran married John Duggan on Feb. 18, 1961, in Lubbock and lived in Odessa until moving to Vega in 1964. They moved to Amarillo in 1974. Fran worked for Levi Strauss and Co. as a seamstress and retired in 1985. She then worked with her husband in their family-owned business. Fran held many offices with the then-Amarillo and Vega Jaycettes and was a past officer with the Panhandle Roadriders Association. Fran was also a member of the Washington Avenue Christian Church in Amarillo. Her father, Ed Whitmore, and a daughter, Jo Karlyn, preceded Fran in death. Fran is survived by her husband, John of the home; mother, Maggie Whitmore of Odessa; two brothers, Edy Whitmore of San Antonio and Joe Whitmore and his wife Cecilia of Houston; a sister, Candy and her husband Bill McDougal of Odessa; and numerous nieces and nephews. James Hubert Cleveland ODESSA - James Hubert Cleveland, 79, of Odessa passed away Monday, Dec. 24, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital. He was born March 24, 1922. He moved to Odessa in 1955 from Pecos. He served on the USS Intrepid CV11 during World War II. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He was a Methodist. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Cleveland of Odessa; sons, Bennie Cleveland of Odessa and Archie Dishman of Greenville, S.C.; daughter, Darlene Ingram of Guthrie, Okla.; sisters, Lois Boulter of Branson, Mo., and Lillie Mae Lukins of Sweetwater; and five grandchildren. Memorial services are scheduled for a later date. Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Steven Dale Phillips ODESSA - Steven Dale Phillips, 56, of Odessa passed away Saturday, Dec. 22, 2001, at his residence. He was born July 10, 1945, in Russell, Kan. Mr. Phillips was employed by Albright and Associates for 12 years as a machinist. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion and served in the U.S. Navy. He was preceded in death by his mother, Juanita Quinn on Aug. 15, 1996, and sister, Thresa Thomason on July 16, 2001. He is survived by his daughters, Vonda Phillips of Abilene and Melinda Phillips of Odessa; brother, Dennis Meeks of Odessa; sister, Bennita Holbrook of Burnett; and five grandchildren, Chris, Amber, Matthew, Kimberly and Billy Joe. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Dec. 27, 2001, at Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
