Mamie Austin
ABILENE - Mamie Laverne "Tootsie" Austin, 71, of Abilene, a retired employee of Blue Cross/Blue
Shield, died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2002, in Abilene.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Pioneer Drive Baptist Church with Dr. Jeff Reid and the Rev. Stan
Allcorn officiating. Burial will be at the Ross Annex Cemetery in Baird. Arrangements by Elliott-Hamil
Funeral Home.
She was born in Baird. She was Baptist.
SURVIVORS: Husband, Glynn Austin of Abilene; sons, Jim Francisco of Fort Worth and Steve Austin
of Abilene; daughters, Dixie Scott of Lubbock and Glynda Jones of Wichita Falls; sisters, Alene Hudson
of Baird and Jimmie Bailey of Levelland; brother, Curtis Chatham of Odessa; six grandchildren; and three
great-grandchildren.

Steve Baldwin
KERMIT - Steve Baldwin, 90, of Kermit, retired owner of Western Auto, died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2002,
at Winkler County Memorial Hospital in Kermit.
Graveside services will be at 3:30 p.m. today at the Kermit Cemetery with Leslie Gregory officiating.
Arrangements by Cooper Funeral Chapel.
He was born in Fort Chadbourne and was a resident of Kermit for 54 years. He was an Army veteran of
World War II. He was Episcopalian.
SURVIVORS: Daughter, Vera Anne McNabb of Odessa; two grandchildren; and two
great-grandchildren.

Mary Blaylock
ODESSA - Mary Blaylock, 54, of Odessa, a retired nurse, died Monday, Feb. 4, 2002, at Odessa
Regional Hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Rose of Sharon Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. J.W. Hanson
officiating. Burial will be at Ector County Cemetery. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home.
She was born in Wichita Falls and had been a resident of Vernon. 
SURVIVORS: Son, Welton Blaylock III of Odessa; daughters, LaWanda Holland of Houston and Cheryl
Blaylock of Odessa; and brother, Herman Smith Jr. of Odessa.

Eldeen Johnson
FORT STOCKTON - Eldeen Johnson, 76, of Pecos County, a motorman, died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2002,
in Fort Stockton.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Fort Stockton Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. W.L. Hopson
officiating. Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery. Arrangements by Fort Stockton Funeral Home.
He was born Hartman, Ark., and was a resident of Pecos County since 1965. He was a Navy veteran of
World War II. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Jackie R. Johnson of Fort Stockton; son, Eldeen Johnson Jr. of Buckhannon, W.
Va.; daughters, Janet McKelvy of Three Rivers and Dee Nance of Gilmer; sister, Pearl Pardue of Lamar,
Ark.; brother, Fred Johnson of Crosbyton; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Janis Morehead
PECOS - Janis G. Morehead, 61, of Pecos, a homemaker, died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2002, at her residence.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Christian Church with the Rev. Ernie Waggoner
officiating. Arrangements by Pecos Funeral Home.
She was born in Pecos and was a lifelong resident. She was Christian.
SURVIVORS: Husband, Edward Curtis of Pecos; sons, Chris Dale Crawford of Pecos, Bruce Leon
Crawford of Schnecksville, Pa., Bret Dwayne Crawford of Krum and Charles Morehead of Odessa;
brothers, Willis Cook of Beaumont, Ernest Cook and Marion Cook, both of Pecos, Gene Cook of
Mentone and Johnny Cook of Odessa; sister, JoAnn Beauchamp of San Angelo; and seven grandchildren.

Bonnie Russell
ODESSA - Bonnie Rae Russell, 69, of Odessa died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2002, at Medical Center
Hospital.
Services are pending with Martinez Funeral Home.
