Ray Athey
ODESSA - Ray Athey, 70, of Odessa, a retired oilfield worker, died Thursday, 
June 27, 2002, at his home.
Services will be at 3 p.m. todayat Midessa Heights Baptist Church with the Rev. 
Nick Gates officiating. Burial will follow in McCamey. Arrangements by Sunset 
Memorial Gardens.
He was born Weldon.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Julia Dale of Odessa; son, Dennis Athey of Livingston; 
daughter, Debra Chastain of Odessa; sister, Carol Anderson; four grandchildren, 
and two great-grandchildren.

Hampton Baucum
BIG SPRING - Hampton Baucum, 71, of Big Spring, died Friday, June 28, 2002, in 
Big Spring.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church. Burial will 
follow at the Mount Hope Cemetery. Arrangements by Lawrence-Adams Funeral Home.
SURVIVORS: None listed.

Gregoria Holguin
MARFA - Gregoria Holguin, 89, of San Antonio, a rancher, died Thursday, June 27, 
2002, at her home.
Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Rosary 
will be said todayat 7 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Merced 
Cemetery.
She was born in Tierras Nuevas, Mexico. She was Catholic.
SURVIVORS: Son, Severiano Holguin of Marfa; daughters, Emma Baeza of Lubbock, 
Graciela Holguin of San Antonio and Berta Holguin of Lubbock; sisters, Cecilia 
Holguin and Ramona Caballero, both of Ojinaga, Mexico; 41 grandchildren; 96 
great-grandchildren; and 21 great-great-grandchildren.

Jimmy Herod
PECOS - Jimmy Herod, 76, of Pecos, died Saturday, June 29, 2002, at Medical 
Center Hospital.
Services are pending with Pecos Funeral Home.

Rachel Ramirez
PECOS - Rachel Ramirez, 51, of Pecos, died Friday, June 28, 2002, in Ward 
County.
